I need to connect an iPad to a Public Address controller. (PA) Don't need any access to the internet.

So, I want the WiFi capability of the router to talk to 1 address - 169.254.63.55

Router is a TL-WR841N (E)

The PA has an address of 169.254.63.55

I tried a static route - no go.

I tried changing the LAN address to 169.254.63.1 - no go.

Is there a way of achieving this, or am I on a loser ?

Hi,

If a client device shows an IP address in the 169.254.x.x range (like 169.254.63.55 in your case), then it normally means this client device is waiting to be assigned a proper IP address by a DHCP server.

I suggest you reset your TL-WR841N to factory default settings (so we are sure you start from a clear configuration) and then just connect the public address controller to one of the yellow LAN ports of the TL-WR841N. Since by default the TL-WR841N has a LAN IP address of 192.168.0.1 (unless your TL-WR841N is a very old version) the public address controller should then automatically be assigned an IP address in the 192.168.0.x range. Its actual IP address should be displayed in the router's "DHCP Clients List" (in the menu "DHCP").
