Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.7 build 25031412 rel 48241

I used to be able to set client device to connect to specific decos around the house but I've now lost the ability to do so?

Removed and reinstalled the iOS app still no joy.

Has this feature been removed?

@Brooksey Remove the old Deco model which does'nt support Connection Preference then the option will appear again in Deco App.

Please & Thank You !! ❤️

@Brooksey I think this may have to do with a beta version of the Deco App. My decos are all X55 and supported the feature. I went to check and make sure i had the latest version of the ap and the play store said i was a beta tester for the app. Only thing I could do was leave a review= as feedback on the play store so have no clue if it was ever seen by anyone, even though the play store said that it would be raised to the app development team.

  @Brooksey

See if any of the trouble shooting steps below help if not please get back to us.

What to do if the option is missing

  1. Check for Updates:

    • Update the Deco App: Open your device's app store and check for any available updates for the TP-Link Deco app.
    • Update Deco Firmware: Inside the Deco app, check for and install the latest firmware for all your Deco units.
  2. Verify Compatibility:

    • Check the official TP-Link website or support forums for your specific Deco model to see if it supports the connection preference feature.
    • If your system includes older Deco models (e.g., M5, E4), the feature might not be available or might require removing the older units from your mesh.
  3. Restart Your Deco System:

    • Power off your Deco units, wait a few minutes, and then power them back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  4. Factory Reset (As a last resort):

    • If none of the above work, you can try a factory reset of your Deco units. Be aware that this will erase all your network settings, so you will need to set up your Deco system again from scratch.
Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1
