The device is still a joke, sporadically switching off 5G reception when it overheats but keeping the WiFi on. Both as a mobile router with poor battery life and when operating without a battery on the power supply, it can't be used for long without this happening.

Hi, may I know your mobile ISP?

When did you purchase the M8550?

Is the current firmware "1.3.0 3.0.0 v60d8.0 Build 250814 Rel.61278n"?

Later, I'd like to follow up on your case via email and forward it to the senior engineer for further assistance.

Could you please update the email with the following details:

  • When the 5G mobile signal on the M8550 drops again, please save a screenshot of the internet status, such as:

  • Then, a copy of the web UI system log under System Tools.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Hi, nice to see you again.

If you still have issues with the M8550, it is suggested to send an email to the local technical support team and ask for a case escalation so that the senior engineer can help further.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Looks solid - the 5G speeds plus Wi-Fi 6E make this a great option for anyone who needs reliable mobile internet on the go. The touch screen is a nice touch too.

My experience with M8550 has been very positive overall, there are some non-critical bugs they are working on, but generally it's solid performance so far!

I have it on 24x7 and it's been a few weeks now and never had any drop out (5G SIM and 6G WIFI).

Customer service is excellent as well.

Looking forward to future firmware updates for continued improvements.

@David-TP  Hi David, do you know anybody who could answer the question?

How many carriers can the M8550 aggregate? I couldn´t find any information in the data sheets on carrier aggregation.

Same for 3GPP release. Which release version is supported?

Thanks in advance Martin

I’d like to suggest adding WISP (Wireless ISP) mode as a Wi-Fi WAN option in a future firmware update.

Some compact routers, like the TL-WR3002X, already support this,

and it would greatly enhance the versatility and deployment scenarios of your device.

Adding Wi-Fi WAN support would also make the product more appealing to users who need portable or travel-friendly networking gear.

Also, about vpn I use express vpn is it possible to set up express vpn account on this device? Maybe via open VPN?

Hi, thanks for your time and patience.

For 3GPP release, it is R16. I'm still waiting for the senior engineer to help us check the carrier aggregation combinations.

Best regards.

  @Mozki

Hi, welcome to the community.

M8550 doesn't have a built-in eSIM chip, and it hasn't been tested with the physical eSIM card either.

May I know your SIM ISP?

For the Surfshark VPN, M8550 should work well with it, but you might need to manually upload the OpenVPN Client config file.

Here is a web UI admin emulator for M8550 for your reference:

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
