  @JouJek thanks! while working as USB-tehtering do you see any difference in performance compared to its RJ45 port?

I did not run many tests. My ISP gives me 400-500Mb/s and I was always able to get full speed with both interfaces

  @JouJek Ok - thanks - most important for me is to use the USB-C as network for a camera unit. Many thanks for sharing, br. Tom

  @David-TP
Man, I have that device and was working fine for months.. but last night that device literally shut the RJ45 port and not works anymore. That "feature" to disable automatically the RJ45 is sucks and non-sense, because we can't disabled it. I tried to enable the logs to see if there's any error, but no logging at all, even in debug mode :D
I don't know what I can do, the firmware is from TP-Link, not from any broadband company. With WIFI is working, but I need the RJ45, not the WIFI.

  @David-TP

Can  anyone confirm that the overheating issue is resolved now with the latest FW 1.6 that can be downloaded ?  I plan to travel this summer and need a portable access point running at 5G that can accomodate up to a dozen devices if needed..

TiA for the feedback.

GP Geek.

PS: has also someone tried to connect an external antenna with the TS9 connector and if yes, how much gain dB was added ?

@GPGeek the gain you get from using an external antenna is down to the antenna you chose, the type of connectors you use, the length and quality of the cables from the antenna to the M8550 & the network bands your service provider offers in the locations you are using your device at. For example - a good omni-directional antenna will get you very little gain on lower frequencies like 600 or 700 MHz (often in rural areas), but can have 5 or 8 dBi gain on higher freqencies like 3500MHz (metropolitan areas). But if the cable you use is 10m/30ft long, you will lose all the signal gain in cable losses, with the net advantage only being if the antenna is placed at a location where the radio signal is far better than where the M8850 is localted (ie outside while the unit is used inside a brick and steel building).

@JeanPe I have to turn on the RJ45 port everytime I power up the M8550. I assume its a power saving function. The quick way to do this is to swipe down on the touch screen and press the ethernet port icon. You can also do this through the settings menu structure.
