Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I am running 2 x Deco XE75 in WiFi mode connected to the wired router ER605 v2.

I need a backup link and I plan to use cellar connection as the secondary ISP link.

Since I lack ethernet cables in the attic, I consider buying one Deco X50-5g, using external antennae, connecting to LAN via WiFi backhaul.

Is it possible to configure X50-5g and ER605 to fail-over to 5g when the fibreoptic WAN goes down?

If so, how?

Please advise.

Hi, welcome to the community.

As there is no XE65, is your current model Deco XE75 or Deco BE65?

Do you want to achieve the following setup:

Main fibre optic WAN---<Ethernet cable>---ER605 v2----<Ethernet cable>----Deco X50-5G(wireless router mode with 5G backup enabled), 2*Deco XE75 as Mesh satellite units

How to set up 3G/4G or 4G/5G Backup on Deco router

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

@David-TP Thank you, the satellites are XE75, sorry about the error.

Not quite, I want to achieve the following setup:

 Main fibre optic WAN---<Ethernet cable>---ER605 v2-----<Ethernet cables>----2*Deco XE75 as Mesh satellite units

                                                                                                                                            ----<WiFi backhaul>----Deco X50-5G(wireless router mode with 5G backup enabled),

I read the linked article carefully and I understood that I would need to connect the WAN ethernet to the X50-5g (which I cannot).

Do I understand it correctly?

The key question I have is:

when I connect the X50-5g to the existing XE75 over WiFi backhaul,

can I configure the routing so that the ER605 would route towards Internet using the 5g connection (secondary gate in the same LAN) when the fo WAN is not working.

Please advise

Regards

  @saah-pl

Hi, thanks for the update.

When Deco X50-5G is added as a satellite Deco into the Deco Mesh, there is no option on the Deco App to enable 4G/5G backup.

If you still want to use Deco XE75 as the main Deco, you can test the following topology:

ER605 is a multi-WAN router and supports Link backup as well:

https://support.omadanetworks.com/en/document/12979/

You can use Deco X50-5G as a second WAN for ER605, such as:

Deco X50-5G will be a separate Mesh network on the Deco APP and works in the default 5G router mode.

Best regards.
