RE500X v2.0 – frequent uplink freezes on firmware 1.0.3 Build 20240109
Hello everyone,
I have two RE500X v2.0 extenders, both running firmware 1.0.3 Build 20240109 Rel.57277. Both devices show stable signal levels (~-45dBm), but I experience **frequent short internet freezes** (~1-3 seconds) every few hours. In the logs I see no DHCP issues (I've configured static IP), but the extender clearly loses its uplink momentarily.
I previously used RE500X on firmware 1.0.2 and never had this problem. It seems the issue arose specifically after upgrading to 1.0.3. I cannot find firmware 1.0.2 for v2.0 on the official site.
Affected devices: RE500X v2.0 (two units).
Request: Could TP-Link please make the 1.0.2 (or earlier stable) firmware for v2.0 available? Or confirm if there will be an official 1.0.5 release for v2.0?
Thanks!

Hello@toxa666 ,
Welcome to our community.
Have you removed one extender for a comparison? Have you changed any settings recently?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide advance notice of when new updates will be released for RE500X. We recommend checking our official website for any new firmware updates.
When the latest firmware is available for your extender, the update icon
will display in the top-right corner of the page. Click the icon to go to the Firmware Upgrade page.

Hi @Joseph-TP ,
Thanks for the reply, but I think there's a misunderstanding.
I’m not asking about future firmware notifications. I’m asking for access to a previous version (specifically 1.0.2 Build 20230901 for RE500X v2.0) — a version that worked perfectly, and which you’ve now removed from the download page.
I’ve tested two separate RE500X v2.0 units — both running 1.0.3 Build 20240109 — and both exhibit the exact same issue: frequent uplink freezes (1–3 seconds), even with perfect signal and static IP configuration. This did not happen on 1.0.2.
At this point, it feels like TP-Link has silently released a regression in 1.0.3, pulled the working firmware, and left users with no fix or rollback option. That’s not acceptable.
Please escalate this to your firmware team. Either:
-
Provide a download link to 1.0.2 for v2.0 (we’re not asking for support — just the file),
-
Or at least acknowledge that 1.0.3 introduced problems and that a fix is coming.
Thanks.

Hi@toxa666,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I understand your eagerness to fix the problem, but we have reported it to the technical department and they are actively collecting more details to locate your problem.
For version 1.0.2, I can't find the download path either, so I can't share it.
But we have released version 1.0.5 in some regions, such as RE500X(UK)_V2_1.0.5 Build 20240308
Don't worry, this is a Unified Firmware. You can download the firmware first to see if the problem can be solved.
If the problem still exists, please collect system logs and backup files of the range extender. Then email the logs and backup files to support.forum@tp-link.com, attaching [Forum ID 829272] and details, and we will have a dedicated person to assist in analysis and follow-up.

hi @Joseph-TP
Thanks for your reply.
I’ve updated the RE500X v2.0 to firmware 1.0.5 Build 20240308 as suggested.
After the upgrade, I did a factory reset (held the reset button for over 10 seconds) and reconfigured the extender with the following settings:
-
5GHz-only uplink and downlink
-
DHCP disabled
-
Static IP manually assigned
-
OneMesh, MU-MIMO, and TWT disabled
Unfortunately, the issue persists — the uplink connection dropped again after ~20 minutes of stable operation, even though the signal from the router is strong and stable.
I’ll now send full logs and configuration backup to support.forum@tp-link.com, referencing this thread.
