Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Where can I see the connection type of a deco unit in the app?

I connected one of my units to a wall socket, but in the app, that unit shows a weak WiFi signal.
when I connect it directly to the router, next to the main unit I get a strong WiFi signal

is This normal?

  @David-TP  thanks!

this was very helpful

it seems that the problem was the wall socket that was not connected properly.
got that fixed and now everything works.

Let's be more clear, when you connect a wired Deco node through a wall socket (DP Point) the connection show a weak signal in the Deco APP? The weak signal you meant is the backhaul connection signal within the Deco units, or your wireless client devices? If you are using a wired backhaul connection, it will not show a wireless backhaul signal strength. Are your node units also connected with a LAN cable to the correct DP Point, which connects to the main Deco? If yes, kindly try also to check/ping the connection status with a laptop (LAN), at the specified wall socket. ***Main Deco-LAN Cable-Wall Socket A(DP IN)-Wall Socket A(DP OUT)-LAN Cable-Laptop> CMD prompt >Ping 8.8.8.8

 @YA81

Hi, welcome to the community.

You can take this picture as an example:

The "Living Room" Deco is on Ethernet Backhaul, while "Pool House" and "Terrace" are WiFi(2.4+5Ghz) Backhaul

The Backhaul type can also be found under the device settings.

Usually, if your satellite units are connected via an Ethernet cable, they should be like "Living Room".

If it didn't, for your network layout, I think you might need to set Deco into "Access Point" mode under Deco APP>More>Advanced>Operation mode.

For more details about Ethernet Backhaul, please also refer to General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
