Model: Archer A8
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Hey everyone,

I’ve been diving deep into custom GTA San Andreas Mod APK setups lately, and I’ve hit a bit of a networking snag that I hope someone here can help with.

My Setup:

  • Router: TP-Link Archer A8 (latest firmware, stable connection)

  • Device: Android phone

  • Game: GTA San Andreas Mod APK featuring CLEO Menu (custom mods, scripts, and multiplayer direct connect mode)

The Goal:

I want to host a multiplayer game session using this CLEO-enhanced version of GTA San Andreas, where my friends can connect via my public IP. However, none of them can connect—timing out every time.

The Problem:

Standard port forwarding (e.g., port 7777 used by SA-MP) doesn’t work. This modded APK version seems to use uncommon or hardcoded ports, making the whole process a black box. I believe my Archer A8 is blocking the necessary traffic, but I can’t pin down which ports to open.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

  • Enabled UPnP (no change)

  • Forwarded common ports (no success)

  • Dug through the APK for clues on port numbers (found nothing)

  • Set static IP for the Android device

  • Checked logs (but Archer A8 doesn’t seem to show detailed traffic logs)

The Version I'm Using:

You can find more info on this specific GTA SA Mod APK with CLEO here:
It includes detailed info about mods, CLEO scripts, and download options for Android.

What I Need Help With:

  1. Identifying Used Ports:
Does the Archer A8 have any advanced diagnostics, like traffic monitoring or logs, that show which inbound ports are being attempted when my Android device tries to host a session?

  2. QoS Prioritization:
Could assigning my Android phone’s MAC address to the highest priority in QoS help in any way? Even if it’s not blocking, I want to make sure traffic isn't deprioritized.

  3. DMZ as a Test:
Is temporarily placing my Android phone in the DMZ a safe way to test if the router is the culprit? I understand the risks but need to confirm if it’s truly the NAT firewall causing the issue.

Bonus:
If anyone has experience hosting multiplayer sessions using GTA San Andreas Mod APK (CLEO or otherwise), I’d love to hear what ports you needed or if you had to modify the APK manually.

Hi@ahamadali ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—router )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Would you mind taking screenshots of the port forwarding settings and send here?  Please check if the WAN IP is a public IP?

More suggestions, please refer to Why port forwarding feature is not working on my Wi-Fi router or Deco?

  @ahamadali

To play GTA San Andreas or GTA 5 CLEO Multiplayer smoothly, enable port forwarding on your TP-Link Archer A8 for the required game ports (usually 2300–2400, 47624). Set QoS to prioritize your device’s IP for better performance. Check your router's manual for exact steps.
