Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.4.9 Build 20250110 Rel. 65349

I have a wired mesh network via Ethernet where the modem is an x3000-5g and then there are 3 x50 satellites connected via Ethernet PoE. It has always worked very well but today by pure chance I noticed that one of the 3 satellites connects to the main modem via Wi-Fi and not via Ethernet, if I try to restart the network it happens that it doesn't happen the same, but another satellite goes to Wi-Fi and the other two continue to go to Ethernet, so it's not always the same. The switch is a Zyxel [XMG-108HP]. What do you think it could be, a switch problem or a firmware problem? Thanks

Hi,

When the fiber is ready, if it will work as the primary connection, the operation mode still needs to be set as "WiFi router" mode.

It is not an expected behavior. All Deco X50-PoE units should work over Ethernet Backhaul, no matter whether the main Deco is on "4G/5G router mode" or " WiFi Router" mode with 4G/5G backup.

When you set Deco X50-5G into "WiFi Router" mode, did you also enable "4G/5G" backup?

Have you tried to "fix the WAN port" on the Deco App>More>Advanced when Deco X50-5G is on WiFi router mode?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

I only solved this problem one way, and I'd like to ask you if this behavior is normal.
First of all, I'm using the main decoder with a SIM card inserted, thus using a 5G connection, while I wait for the fiber optic cable to be activated in my home soon.

I went to the deco app, to the operating modes section, and the Wi-Fi router function was set (there are four selectable options: 4G/5G router, Wi-Fi router, access point, and bridge). I selected the 4G/5G router mode, and all three satellites connected correctly to Ethernet.

So, my question is:

1- Is it normal that when I selected the Wi-Fi router, I encountered this problem, but when I selected the 4G/5G router, everything went back to normal?

2- As soon as they activate the fiber optic cable and I want to daisy-chain the router, should I leave the 4G/5G router function enabled or should I change the setting?

  @David-TP

Thanks David, I'll try to make sure these settings are taken care of as soon as I get my fiber optics up and running. Thanks a lot.
