DECO APP: All smart home devices in the Deco app. Would that be cool!
Recently, I started using four Deco X50 devices and the Deco app. In the app, I noticed there’s an option to add smart home devices so you can manage everything in one place.
I have quite a few smart sockets and a lot of Tapo lamps and sensors. All of the Tapo devices are already set up in the Tapo app, which is also made by TP-Link.
I've noticed that there doesn’t seem to be a way to import the devices already added in the Tapo app into the Deco app. I find that strange and inconvenient. It seems that if I want to add a Tapo device to the Deco app, I have to set it up again from scratch (see screenshots). 😒 That doesn’t seem ideal. Would the devices then no longer be connected to the Tapo app, unless I configure everything exactly the same?
"Smart Home, add your smart devices to the Deco app and control them all from one place"
"Your Home, One App!"
"Add your smart devices and control them through the Deco app. Enjoy the convenience of a fully connected smart home."
It seems that I have to set up all devices from scratch...
Am I missing something? Because I don’t understand the logic behind this.
If the Deco app is truly meant to bring everything together in one place, then, just like the Google Home app, it should let me import (or connect with another account like Tapo) all the devices already linked in my home network.
Can anyone explain how this is supposed to work? Am I overlooking something?
