Ethernet port of my RE200 wifi extender won't provide internet to my CCTV DVR
I want my CCTV DVR to connect to the internet so that I can monitor footage over my phone. It's not a wireless DVR which means I would need an Ethernet cable to connect it to the router. The only thing is the router is quite far away and on a different floor so it would be very inconvenient. So I thought placing a WiFi extender with an Ethernet port next to the DVR would solve those problems.
I bought the TP-Link AC750 (RE200) WiFi extender with Ethernet port. I configured it to the router network and then placed it near the DVR, then connected the two with an Ethernet cable. Unfortunately it won't provide internet.
I know the DVR is not the problem because I tried connecting my laptop to the extender (via the Ethernet cable) and again I wasn't getting any internet. I tried re-configuring and resetting the extender in various ways but the Ethernet port still won't work. Can I please get some help on how to configure this Ethernet properly? I tried changing to from Ranger mode to Access Point Mode, but it seems all that does is make it necessary to be connected via Ethernet cable to the router.
