Model: Archer BE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20250414

This is an issue I have had since I've owned this device. I have the BE800 as my main device and the BE550 as my satalite device. The mesh is connected by ethernet and both devices seem to work fine when a client is connected to either. Although I have experienced and issue with playing TikTok on my iPhone which I think is connected to BE550 on 6GHZ which it stops for like 10-15 seconds

The main issue is when I am on a call on my iPhone (wifi calling or facetime) and I move from a room that has the BE800 and move to a room that has the BE550 in it, my call wont drop but it just goes silent and takes 30 secs for me to get back connection so I can hear the receiver. I have noticed that sometimes the wifi icon on my iPhone (16 pro) drops and reconnects

This could occur on other devices but my iPhone is the one that roams the most between the two routers

The BE550 is also at the latest firmware 1.1.2 Build 20250317

Hello@stbrown ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—BE800—BE550 )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Have you tested other Wi-Fi bands, such as 5 GHz, separately?

Do you have advanced features like MLO enabled?

Here are some suggestions that may help you:

    1) Make sure the Router is properly placed; it should be put in an open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
    2) Change the wireless channel to another one. Please refer to
Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo).
    3) Change channel to avoid interference. For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 2.4GHz channel width to 20MHz; for 5 GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 5GHz channel width to 80MHz or 40MHz, etc.

Hi

I have Fibre so its my Nokia ONT -> BE800 as the main and then hard wired via ethernet is the BE550 as a Mesh device.

I didnt have MLO enabled as it gave problems in the past but I tried some quick testing today and it seems that maybe its only the 6ghz band that causes issue. I tested on my smart connect of 2.4/5ghz and when moving between routers it seems to keep the phone call active. Also tried MLO and it seemed to be the same

Went back to 6ghz and the connection drops for a bit before I get connected again. Wasnt as long as before, maybe 5-10 secs

I live in a 900 sq ft condo and the routers are at opposite corners. I dont really need both but I have the mesh in the living room to provide a better 6ghz connection to a few devices there like my TV

Is there an issue with 6ghz handing off between routers?

Hello@stbrown ,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Please move closer to the BE800 and test whether 6GHz is working smoothly. Or are you experiencing the same issue?

Please try switching the 6GHz encryption method from WPA3 to a mixed WPA2/WPA3 mode.
Please stay connected to 5GHz for a while and test WiFi calling to confirm stability. Are there no brief disconnections when switching to 6GHz?

  @Joseph-TP

If I stay close to either router on 6ghz everything is fine as long as I dont move closer to the other to force it to change via easy mesh

5Ghz seems to work smoothly based on my limited testing so far.

Changing from 5ghz to 6ghz while on a call causes a short disruption while near the BE800.

I dont see any option to enable WPA2/3 for 6ghz. It has WPA3 or enhanced open as the only options
