Deco BE65 Speed dropped
Deco BE65 Speed dropped

Brand new BE 65 3 nodes with nbn fttp and TPG various Ethernet cables and and wifi connections
Worked well with provider top speed 250Mbp
then it dropped to 25 Mbps
Tried reboot, connecting direct to main router with lap top every possible obvious problem solving I have done.
strange the app says speed is 260 Mbps but Speedtest on laptop and phone says 23mbps
TPG is investigating. Any thoughts?

@KeithU thanks for the replies did all the suggestions and a hard reset on the initial router and setup from scratch seemed to have worked. BTW an old laptop still limps along (33Mbps wifi and 110Mbps ethernet) but I believe its the network adapter that cant cope with the faster speeds. Time for a new Laptop

@KeithU I am seeing the same thing with my 3-node BE65 setup. Two weeks ago, all of a sudden my wireless speed dropped from 800+ Mbps right next to the main node and down to 10-40Mbps. This is the case no matter which 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels I choose (I have tested them all) - and I live in a low-wifi-congestion area (scanned all channels in order to investigate this problem, most wifi channels were unused)... The cabled speed from the BE65 base station to my PC is still flawless at around 940Mbps so my provider cannot be blamed for the slowdown - and on top of the cabled test, when I connect the wifi router from my provider (sadly they didn't provide a mesh system) the wifi connection is good at around 500 Mbps. I suspect a faulty firmware update from TP-Link as that is the only event that can explain the sudden performance drop.... Thank you TP-Link, your product was excellent - until you ruined it and it wasn't....

Thank you for you interest in our problem! All my Deco units run Firmware Version 1.1.7 Build 20250324 Rel 32980,
In my Messages in the Deco app I have a Firmware Update notification saying 'Deco is up to date'. The notification is from 31st July 2025 and that is exactly the date where the slow down of my wireless connections started - so the problem seems highly correlated with the update.
Best regards,
Morten With

So it's possible to roll back the firmware to see if the problem goes away but you have to download it, and install it via the web ui

You would want to go here first, https://www.tp-link.com/us/choose-your-location/ and select your region, Now find the support page for your deco. There should be a drop down menu click it and find your hardware version number. This will then display all the firmware available for your deco. The newest version should be at the top. Just download the one before that :)

@MortenWith Check QoS and turn it OFF or set the limit to 1000 Mbps in QoS

For slow WiFi speed it's also recommended to turn off the UPNP feature and SIP ALG feature in the Deco App Under: More > Advanced > NAT Forwarding.
