TP Link router not connecting to BT extender

Hi all,
I recently purchased the Archer X55 which seems to have poor strength on the first floor. Hence tried to connect the BT Extenders from my previous set up to the new router. However inspite of factory re-setting the BT extenders, they are not connecting via WPS or ethernet cable. BT sent me a new extender - which too is not working. Tried using the TP link Tether app as well - no luck.
Is there is any know compatibility issue between BT extenders and the X55 router ?
Thanks

Hi,
Can you please specify in more detail what type of "BT extender" you are trying to connect to the Archer AX55?
Are they the so-called "Wi-Fi Discs"?
Apparently, the black Wi-Fi Discs are a BT exclusive and will only work in combination with a BT Smart Hub 2 router.
The white Wi-Fi Discs are supposed to work with any router.

@woozle Yes, these are the BT Black wifi discs. However I also tried a white disc with the BT engineer's remote help for factory reset. None work. Tried using Tether / WPS / Ethernet cable. Not sure if there is any setting in the router config that is blocking it to connect to these discs.

Ok.
According to the instructions I could find a white Wi-Fi disc is installed as follows:
- download BT's "Whole Home Wi-Fi" app from the Google or Apple app store
- connect the factory-reset white Wi-Fi disc via Ethernet cable to one of the yellow LAN ports of the Archer AX55 router
- power the white Wi-Fi disc on and wait until the disc's light turns solid blue
- open the "Whole Home Wi-Fi" app and follow the steps presented by the app to setup the Wi-Fi disc
After the wired "main" Wi-Fi disc is installed it should then be possible to add further white Wi-Fi discs via the "Whole Home Wi-Fi" app

Hello@Rbabel,
Welcome to our community.
Can you tell me the model of the BT extender?
Are there other ways to configure the extender besides WPS? For example, configuring it through the app or the web?
You can also try connecting the extender to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if it can connect normally.
Best Regards.

Sure. Response below :
Can you tell me the model of the BT extender? There are 2 types. The white ones are Smart Wifi SW10A and the other is the Black Wifi disc. Doesnt have model number per se.
Are there other ways to configure the extender besides WPS? For example, configuring it through the app or the web? I have tried all of them - WPS, Ethernet cable, using the TP Link app, TP Link url , BT Whole Home Wifi app
You can also try connecting the extender to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if it can connect normally. How do I do that ?
Thanks

According to pictures on the Internet the "Smart Wifi SW10A" should be a rectangular-shaped device, not the white Wi-Fi disc I was referring to.
And sellers of the Smart Wifi SW10A do note that this device will only work in combination with BT's Smart Hub 2 and EE's Smart Hub (2023).

Hello@Rbabel ,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Since we're not BT support, we have limited information about BT devices.
I'm unsure if the Smart Wi-Fi SW10A is a custom-made device compatible with specific devices, or if it's compatible with most brands.
If the router works properly, the issue may lie primarily with the Smart Wi-Fi SW10A setup process. My suggestion is to confirm the configuration steps with Smart Wi-Fi SW10A support. Alternatively, you can connect the Smart Wi-Fi SW10A to a different network to see if the configuration works properly.
If you need to change the settings on your router, we'd be happy to assist you.
Best Regards.
