Printer is unable to make stable connection with Deco BE25
Printer is unable to make stable connection with Deco BE25

I've a working BE25 setup with wired backhaul. Majority of the Wifi devices can connect with a stable link but I've an EPSON L3151 printer which is just unable to connect.
Sometimes it appears on the DHCP list but the connection just breaks up.
Here is the log from deco side (XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX MAC address is the printer):

----------LOG-END----------
I've tried many things without any success:
* Connect to IOT network with 2.Ghz only
* Beamforming off
* WPA/WPA2 only
Please help me because this makes the whole new net setup useless.

I see there might be a new firmware update for your deco
I would go into your deco app and see if you can download and install that version 1st.
If the new version isn't there or doesn't fix the issue let us know

Hi, for EU versions, it is recommended to update to the 1.1.0 version here:
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-be25/#Firmware
This version should support channel selection, and it is also suggested to set 2.4GHz WiFi to channel 11/channel width 20MHz to see whether it helps.
Best regards.

@HelpFixDecoApp I've just double checked and this version is not available in my country. Of course I can download it but the page says explicitly that I must check on my country page otherwise I can brick my device. Can I ignore that warning statement and manually upgrade it or not. I would like to avoid warranty fights.

Hi, it is suggested to install the 1.1.0 version directly.
Deco has a firmware upgrade protection mechanism. When it detects an unmatched version, it would prevent the firmware from uploading to the hardware.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@David-TP OK, I've successfully upgraded to the latest 1.1.0 version and tried the printer again. Same behavior and not connecting.

Thanks for the update.
Have you also changed the 2.4Ghz channel and channel width under the Main WiFi network to channel 11/ channel width 20MHz?
Please also set the Security of the EPSON printer to "WPA2" only.
If it failed again, would there be any error message on the Epson control app during the setup?
By the way, if you enable the mobile hotspot on the smartphone, can the EPSON L3151 printer connect to the mobile hotspot?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

@David-TP I've just made extensive testing to know more. I'm in IT for 20+ years so you can give me more advanced suggestions.
First I've used my old Archer AX53 router which works fine.
The connection is made with WPA2 and 2.4 Ghz and rock stable.
On Deco I've turned off all unrelated features like MLO, beamforming, etc... and configured WPA2 and 2.4 Ghz only.
I've tried to make connection between the printer and the router 2 ways:
- WPS: AX53 works all the time, Deco never works
- Through the printer application: AX53 works all the time, Deco never works
Important note is that the only error message what the application is giving me is that it's unable to connect the printer.
This is obvious because there is no stable connection between the printer and the router.
I've the feeling that this is more like a please turn on/off a flag.
BR,
G

Thank you very much for the further update.
I have escalated your case to the senior engineer for further analysis. Please check the email later for more suggestions.

You asked for this.
It is possible your printer is unable to handle WiFi mesh, because it only expects single WiFi router in the house broadcasting SSID. That would explain why printer works with TP-Link Archer AX53 but not with TP-Link Deco mesh.
This is how I would suggest to test this theory:
1. Enable IoT network with its default settings. I know, you tried that already but please stay with me as it is only the first step;
2. Delete all Satellite Deco from Deco app. In Deco app, you should only see Main Deco after that. Power off all Satellite Deco.
3. Connect printer to IoT network, also move printer close to Main Deco to make sure WiFi signal is not too weak. This is just for testing, after it you can move printer back.
In that configuration- does printer app connect to printer and is printer connection to WiFi stable? If Yes and Yes, it is printer, sorry. I can provide workaround for you, but this is printer issue.
If with just Main Deco you can't make that work, undo all changes I asked you to do and wait for feedback from TP-Link Engineers.

@Alexandre. That's a good idea and we can exclude quite some edge cases.
It would take some time but I'm on it and going to come back with the result.
