Archer AX12 5ghz speed very slow even at close range
Hello, I recently purchased an Archer AX12 to use as an access point on my upper floor. I'm experiencing an issue with one of my laptops, which is only achieving speeds of 20 Mbps, even though my main internet speed is 200 Mbps. Placing the laptop directly next to the router doesn't resolve the problem. I've attempted some online troubleshooting, including disabling all startup services, which provided a temporary fix. Unfortunately, the issue returned after rebooting the laptop. For context, the laptop does not support Wi-Fi 6 but is compatible with 5 GHz

Hello@Rimaa ,
Welcome to our community.
May I know the model of your laptop? Please try to connect the laptop to 2.4Ghz for comparison.
Or, please connect the laptop to the main router to see if it can get the normal and stable speed?
Do you have other 5Ghz clients? Can they access the normal speed when connected to the 5Ghz?
Best Regards.

@Joseph-TP Sorry for late reply.
I have a Asus ROG G531gv that supports 5Ghz WIFI, and yes i have bunch of other devices that receives full speed (some of them do have same problem too). However, my 2.4Ghz speed are normal and so far no problem at all. My Tplink router actually connect to Lan port of my Huawei router downstairs (the signal barely reaches me and its 5Ghz WLAN is turned off). Last week, I tried to play around with Tplink router settings and my 5Ghz speed was back to normal when I am swapping between AP mode and router mode. But the speed went down again after I restart my laptop few days later and nothing happens when I tried to swap modes/reboot again.

Hello @Rimaa ,
Thanks for getting back to me.
On the AX12, please enable QoS for the laptop, set a high priority for it: Go to Advanced > QoS > Global Settings.
Or,enable the 5Ghz guest network for it:Go to Advanced > Wireless > Guest Network.
Would you mind enabling 5Ghz on the HUAWEI router, then connect the laptop to the 5Ghz of the HUAWEI router for comparison?
Please reboot the laptop after that.
Overall, it seems more like a limitation of the laptop itself. I suggest you also consult laptop support for help.
