Model: Deco E4   Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20240904 Rel. 55371

Use M5 as the primary, E4 the single mesh node.  The mesh system worked for about 24 hrs then E4 became disconnected, solid amber light on.

Restarting E4 helped get it connected and worked for about 24 hours, then the problem recycled.

The mesh used wireless connections and did not use ethernet cable.  Devices were one room apart, about 10 meters, and 2 walls in-between.

 Firmware versions are below:

Hi, may I know how long you have had the Deco E4? Did this issue start recently?

"Solid amber", it seems like Deco E4 auto-restarted. Have you tried to change another power socket?

By the way, do you only have one Dec E4R? I remember the Deco E4_v3 pack has 1*Deco E4R+2*Deco E4S units.

If we temporarily plug the Deco E4R next to the main Deco M5, would the satellite E4R still randomly drop out?

Thank you very much.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP thanks.

This E4R was the primary and additional E4s the satellite (no other deeco models in the mesh).  That mesh worked without problem for about 1 year.

Recently replaced this E4R primary with the M5 primary to use the 500M NBN band.  This E4R became the single satellite.  The remaining E4s not used.

The new mesh M5 primary and E4R satellite can work for about say one day, then the E4R got the solid amber light on and dropped out.

Restarting E4R can get this device back on, for about one day, then dropped out.

The distance between M5 and E4R remained as it was for E4R and E4S. Distance should be no problem for the new mesh? Is a solid amber indicative of weak signal?Nonetheless E4R satellite showed a medium signal intensity when connected.

Hi, thanks for the update.

If the satellite E4S used to connect to the main Deco E4R stably, the distance might not be a problem.

The LED on the Deco hardware can't display the signal strength. The color of the WiFi bars on the Deco App might tell the signal strength, such as 2 green WiFi bars(medium) or 1 yellow/amber bar(poor).

-Can you send me a screenshot of the "amber light" on the satellite Deco E4R?

By the way, the latest firmware of Deco M5 is 1.9.0, and if you haven't updated to this version, please manually update the firmware via web admin UI to see whether it helps:

Best regards.

I have upgraded M5 firmware manually to version 1.9.0, although E4R still dropped out and amber light on, image below. The upper one is the E4R in problem, the lower one is another E4R that I connected to test the connection which works good. I noticed the firmware built difference between the two E4Rs.  The working one has built 1.1.2 20250226, whereas the other in problem is 1.0.4 20240904.  Would the firmware be causing the dropping out?  I used App to update the firmware, but not allowed as it was up to date.  Would there be a firmware to update manually?
