All my Tapo devices are kicked off my network when I insert a USB stick

Hello
When I insert a USB stick into the router, a strange bug occurs, ie all my Tapo devices are no longer connected.
i have tried different drive formats. No change.
i have tried accessing the router remotely over 4G to check connectivity. I still see the Tapo devices as offline.
i have checked WiFi connectivity of others devices when the usb stick is connected. They are fine.
It is very odd that only Tapo devices are affected.
the problem is repeatable after rebooting.
it happens after every time the usb stick is inserted. The problem goes away as soon as the stick is removed.
The stick is Samsung 512GB drive

Hi,
Are the Tapo devices that are kicked off the network all connected to the 2.4 GHz band or are some of them connected to the 5 GHz band?
It is a known issue that certain USB 3.x "SuperSpeed" devices cause so much interference that they can make the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi unusable.
In case you happen to have an USB 2.0 extension cable at hand, then you could test how the Tapo devices behave when you connect the Samsung 512GB drive to the BE230 via that USB 2.0 cable.

@woozle Thats an excellent response and suggestion for what's wrong/what I could test. Thank you. I'll get back to you with the outcome.
Yes all the Tapo devices are on 2.4GHz. I'll check the connectivity of other devices (eg phone, iPad, Echo, etc) to see if the same thing happens at that frequency and at 5GHz.

Hello@keribillen ,
Welcome to our community.
Please use a powered USB hub to power the USB drive and reduce the power burden on the router.
On the router, please change the 2.4 GHz channel to one with less interference (such as 1, 6, or 11).
In addition, please compare them to other 2.4 GHz devices and see if they can access the 2.4 GHz network stably.
Best Regards.

@woozle yep the problem was caused by interference of the 2.4GHz network from the installed Samsung USB3 stick. Thank you for your support.
Instead I installed an Crucial SSD via a long cable away from the router and this is working pretty well.

@Joseph-TP Thank you for your help. The problem was caused by interference of the 2.4GHz network from the installed Samsung USB3 stick. The 5.0GHz network was unaffected,
Instead I installed an Crucial SSD via a long cable away from the router and this is working pretty well. No extra power needed.
