5G problem with Deco X50-5G after Firmware update

Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0

Hello, I'm using Deco X50-5G since february 2024, with an external antenna for 5G.

I'm from Italy and I'm using a WindTre SIM.

My bandwidth was between 300-400 download and 40-50 upload until the first days of september, when I updated the firmware to the 1.2.1 version (I had the 1.2.0, no problem with that except some rare disconnections).

Since then the upload is between 5 and 0.5... sometimes for mere seconds it goes to 30. Some Packet Loss too.

Download between 200-350, but that's not a big problem.

And I noticed that for 3-4 seconds Deco loses 5G and uses 4G (I noticed on the app and via the green led). During these switches sometimes the connection is so unstable that online games disconnect.

Tried on wifi and on Ethernet, multiple devices, all the same.

I tried to contact my provider, explaining the upload and PL problem, but they repeatedly told me that nothing is wrong on their side (even though I'm not 100% sure that they put a good effort in it...).

After some days I updated again the firmware to the 1.3.0 version, hopefully thinking that it could fix the problem, but unfortunately it's the same as before.

My SIM quite always used B1 band, sometimes B3 or B7. Always used Auto on the app.

I tried in these days to force them, all together and one by one.

Also tried to force the Cell Block using some numbers of PCI and NRARFCN I noticed on the app.

But nothing changed.

If I force the Deco on 4G, the connection is stable, the upload goes up till 50, but the download is more or less 100, because of the 4G, clearly.

Ping and jitter are higher, though, so I'd like to be able to use 5G, as I should.

So, long story short, 5G is not stable and the upload of it is clearly much less than before, and right after the update of the firmware.

Could you help @David-TP ?

Thank you!

  @Sheireh

Thank you very much for the feedback.

Can you consistently reproduce the following issue when Deco X50-5G is in 5G preferred mode:

"The upload is between 5 and 0.5... sometimes for mere seconds it goes to 30. Some Packet Loss too"

How often would Deco X50-5G drop from the 5G network to 4G(LED turns from solid white to solid green)?

I shared a beta firmware via email, which might help with the current issue. It is suggested to update to this version first.

It could revert to the official 1.3.0 version directly via the web UI.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
