Slow WIFI BE550
Hello. I purchased a TP-Link Archer BE550 router.
My internet provider (ISP) offers me a speed of 900Mbps, although it often reaches as low as 1Gbps. I have several devices connected to the router, both wired and via Wi-Fi. One is a Windows PC, another is a Mac Mini M4, and the third is a Switch 2. The rest work via Wi-Fi (phone, tablet, etc.).
On my computers, the speed is the same as if I connected the cable directly to the ISP's modem, which is around 900-1000Mbps. However, via Wi-Fi, the maximum speed I was able to record was around 300-400Mbps. It didn't matter which device I used – a Mac Mini M4 via Wi-Fi for testing (I disconnected the network cable from the Mac for the test), an iPhone 13PM, an iPad 9th generation, a Galaxy a70, and an iPad 11th generation. Each test was conducted at a distance of about 1 meter from the router. The closer I got, the speed remained the same, but the further I got, the worse it got.
Is it normal that I only get these speeds over Wi-Fi?
I've read in reviews that this router offers "amazing speeds," but I can't seem to get them on any of the settings I tested.
I tested 2.4 GHz (here, about 150 Mbps), 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, as well as MLO (max 400 Mbps).
I selected the channels after scanning the network with Wifi Explorer, which turned out to be the least congested or completely free. Setting it to auto was even worse.
After configuring the router, I noticed how low the Wi-Fi speeds were. I tried every setting I could think of (changing channels, bandwidth, security type), but nothing helped. So I restored the router to factory settings because I thought I'd made a mistake, but the speeds didn't change. My old router from a few years ago (Archer A6) had Wi-Fi speeds almost twice as fast! So there's either something wrong with the router, the software, or my settings.
Please help, I don't know if I should keep trying or return it to the seller.
