Deco P9 firmware 1.3.0 User feeback
Hello
I want to thank TP-Link devs for releasing Deco P9 1.3.0 firmware.
After two weeks with 1.3.0 I can conclude that it is stable. PLC+Wi-FI mesh works very well and stable.
My notes for two weeks of usage 8x Deco P9 units in AP mode:
1. After the OTA update to 1.3.0 Deco APP became unusable, it showed all satellite Deco P9 units as offline but in fact network was up. Factory reseting all the units and re-adding it to a new network in the Deco APP fixed the issue.
2. With 1.3.0 Deco P9 now supports more than 6 units in one network. Currently I have stable network with 8 units.
3. PLC/Wi-Fi backhaul seems to be more stable compared to previous firmware.
What have to be done with Deco P9 firmware:
1. Add SMART DHCP on\off switch in AP mode - feature which was asked multiply times on this forum and which already present in various Deco models like Deco M4 but for some unknown reason is not present in the Deco P9 1.3.0 firmware.
2. Real-time speed rate is "--/--" in the Deco APP. - seems to be a bug, which is already fixed in Deco M4 1.8.0 https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/838518
3. Some fancy things from M4 1.7.0 firmware like preferred signal source and IoT network https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/793908
@David-TP Can I kindly ask you to provide us information about possibility of adding these features in next firmware release for Deco P9?

While we wait for David can you submit your log file? You shouldn't of had to reset it to get everything to work right
Could you please refer to this link to help me submit the Deco APP log:

Hi, thank you very much for your time and patience.
I'm afraid there hasn't been a shared firmware release plan for Deco P9, especially for the new features of the IoT network.
For Powerline Deco models, usually as long as the Powerline Backhaul is established, the signal source of all satellite units should be the main Deco.
Did you run into any issues with the "Smart DHCP" feature in AP mode?
(If yes, the engineer might help us request a beta firmware with the "Smart DHCP on/off" option.)
Best regards.

If Deco P9 can't find DHCP server during the boot process it activates its own DHCP server.
For example if Deco P9 and router start booting simultaneously after power outage, Deco P9 usually boots faster than router and activates its own DHCP server. This situation create a mess with Wi-fi clients, which must reconnect to get correct IP and Internet access.
I've discussed this with support in tickets TKID250918643 and TKID250918690 , but for some unknown reason TP-Link don't plan to add SMART DHCP on/off switch for 1.3.x firmware. Can it be reconsidered?

I have 6 x Deco P9(v2) and have recently updated with firmware 1.3.0. As you experienced, all 5 satellite Deco's showed as offline on the app even though the network was working. I factory reset all my Deco's and for the first day they appeared as online on the app. I'm now 4 days on and still all 5 Deco's show as offline. @kld39 has your system returned to showing all satellite Deco's as offline?

I upgraded my 3 x P9 yesterday to 1.3.0 and I now have a completely unstable network at home. My 2.4Ghz smart devices keep constantly dropping from the network (I am using as AP because I need to have fixed IP addresses), and my home automation system simply is useless.... I don't think that I can reverse the upgrade, worst decision I made in a long time. What can I do??????

Do we have a confirmation that hardware resetting the decos will prevent them from showing offline after a couple of days?
I'm currently at my mother's house for a limited amount of time, where she has these P9s upgraded to 1.3.0, and I don't have enough days to experiment, hardware reset, and see that after a few days the issue happens again.

It's been two months since I connected all eight of my Deco P9 devices via a twisted pair cable. I've had no issues with Wi-Fi since then. The Deco app also shows the devices as online. No issues. It seems the PLC/Mesh feature is malfunctioning and unstable, but when connected via a twisted pair cable, it's not used, and the network is stable.
