RE700x dont start after firmware update
Hi,
Today, the tether application notified me that an update was available for my RE700x. After updating, it no longer starts, and reboots in a loop, with the second indicator (wifi) turning red at startup and then turning off.
Is there a way to inject the firmware directly without going through the web interface? i.e. downgrade to the previous version?
Thanks in advance

I tried to restart in recovery mode and flash the repeater with ftpt client, unfortunately it seems that this equipment does not support this type of manipulation and the web interface does not work either

Hello@Tim584 ,
Welcome to our community.
May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:
ISP modem—router)))((( RE700X
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
Have you created an EasyMesh Network between the router and RE700X? What model is your router (or the device connected to the front of the RE700X)?
If you disable the EasyMesh feature, can the RE700X work normally?
Do you know if there is any error message on the Management page? Please take screenshots with the error message and send them here.

Hi, yes my network is yes, my network configuration is like this, the repeater is connected with the mesh function to an archer ax55.
I cant acces to management page of the repeater, because he don't start, and my archer ax55 say that satellite is offline

Hello @Tim584,
Thanks for your reply.
Could you send me the hardware and firmware version of the RE700X_V2? Please take a screenshot and send it here.
The Recovery mode you mentioned, does it mean that you hard reset the RE700X and tried to log in to the web UI? Have you tried restoring the firmware using other tools? Could you provide a link or the steps to do so?
Also, do you happen to remember the firmware version before the upgrade?

Hi, the hardware version is 2.0, and the firmware is the last one, 1.2.0 build 20250808, the version before is 1.0.2 i think (i'm not sure).
Recovery mode i mean a mode where i can put the firmware directly into Repeater without use the web interface, but unfortunatly i didn't find a way to do it, that's why I asked the question here about the existence or not of this means.
Yesterday, i bought a new one, i think that this one is dead, because i tried to access via web browser, make a reset but without results.

Hi,
I remember a long time ago someone from TP-Link confirmed here that their Range Extenders have no convenient firmware recovery built in. (i.e. a recovery web interface or TFTP via Ethernet)
That leaves firmware recovery via serial interface as the only option, which would require opening the device's casing and soldering wires to the PCB. As most of the RE devices are of the plug-directly-in-wall-socket type and therefore have mains voltage on parts of the PCB, this can be dangerous and thus is not advisable.

Hi, the new repeater, as soon as I plugged it into the socket and accessed its interface, it asked me to update the firmware... well I really hesitated, being afraid of losing it too 😁

Hello @Tim584 ,
Thanks for your reply.
So the new RE700X's hardware version is V1, right? You can choose not to update for now.
In addition, the tech team has been made aware of your case; they will likely reach out to you via email to continue troubleshooting. Please check your email inbox and confirm.
