Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.0

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with this weird problem. I have Fibre optic connection connected to the Deco BE65 as the main router and then I have Deco x50's in my bedroom and in another bedroom in the house. When I am playing an online game it plays fine and I have low latency and nothing really points to any network problems when suddenly I will get packet loss and no connection for like a minute while playing which is very annoying.

I have tried everything to diagnose the issue on my xbox including clearing the network connection settings and restarting the console and even clearing out the offline devices off the Deco app to clear the cached up devices that were connected to the system. Sadly this still hasn't fixed any issues and I am still getting the random packet loss issue. When this does also happen I can still talk in the party just fine but it is like my games are only affected which is very strange.

Has anyone got any insight to the problem. I haven't got Beamforming enabled and I don't have fast roaming enabled either. I just have the connection to the deco and this is then connected to my network switch in my room to allow all the devices to connect. I have RJ45 couplers extending the connection from the ONT to the middle of the room to connect the BE65 to be the router of the house and I don't think any of these could be causing the problems in the connection I don't think.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are experiencing sudden packet loss and temporary disconnections while gaming on your Deco Mesh network, even though your general connection and latency seem fine most of the time. This issue can be particularly frustrating, especially when it only affects certain activities like online gaming.

To help resolve this, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Test your Internet connection directly:
• Connect your PC or laptop directly to your modem (bypassing the Deco system) and see if the issue persists. If you still experience packet loss or disconnections, please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for further assistance.

2. Check Quality of Service (QoS) settings:
• Open the Deco app and go to MORE > QoS. Make sure the QoS bandwidth matches your subscribed Internet speed. Incorrect settings can affect performance for latency-sensitive activities like gaming.

3. Review device-specific settings:
• In the client list section of the Deco app, select your gaming device (e.g., Xbox) and ensure that 'Speed Limit' is disabled and that 'Connection Preference' is set to 'auto' (the default setting).

4. Verify Parental Controls:
• In the 'Parental Control' section of the Deco app, make sure your gaming device is not accidentally restricted by any parental control profiles.

5. Check satellite Deco placement and signal strength:
• If your gaming device is connected to a satellite Deco, ensure the satellite unit has at least 2 bars of signal strength. A weak signal (1 bar) can cause latency and stability issues.
• If you use Ethernet backhaul, double-check the Ethernet connections between Deco units. Connect the main and satellite units directly (avoid using switches if possible), and confirm that "Ethernet Backhaul" is displayed in the Deco app.

6. For wired (Ethernet) devices:
• Connect your gaming console or PC directly to the main Deco unit, and try different Ethernet ports to rule out port issues.

7. For Wi-Fi devices:
• Ensure your device is connected to the nearest Deco unit with a strong signal, and use the 5GHz or 6GHz band instead of 2.4GHz for better performance and lower latency.
• Make sure your device is connected to the main network, not the guest or IoT network.
