So, your current network topology is roughly like this:
ISP modem--Main router --- (RE700X + RE505X)

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

 

Yes, ISP ( Full Fibre) -> Router then wireless connection to (RE700X + RE505X)

 

But the RE505X isn't part of the EasyMesh network, right? correct. I initially had it as part of the EasyMesh network but when i relocated it to the room I needed it in , I could not connect to the Internet at all from either of my 2 laptops either wired ) via the Lan Port) or Wirelessly. So i reconfigigured it as an extender which now i have to connect to the SSID with _EXT and not the main SSID ( hence why i wanted to use EasyMesh so I only have 1 SSID)

 

If you remove the RE505X, can the RE700X access the network completely?  -  I have not tried that

 

Have you configured your main router to use separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands? This could explain why one of the RE700X's bands is going offline.

 

No My router is configured to use both ( i have masked out  some MAC and IP settings from the screenshot)

 

 

 

 

Please change the channel and channel width for the router. Take the TP-Link router for example: Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo)

 

what do i change it to? they are set to Auto:

 

Update the firmware of the router to the latest version  -  OK

 

Am I right in thinking I should be able to add both RE700X + RE505X into the EasyMesh Network configuration and they both should display 2.4 Ghz  and 5 Ghz?

If you are talking about the "Host Network" connection (i.e. the connection between the router and the RE700X), then this is normal. When used as part of an EasyMesh network the RE700X (or any other of TP-Link's Mesh extenders) does not allow manual band selection (the options are grayed out) and the RE700X will automatically select a band based on whatever logic.

However, the "Extended Network" should still be available on both bands. If this is not the case, then please report back here.

 

 

By the way, if you decide to use your TP-Link range extenders as conventional range extenders (i.e. not Mesh), then you should be able to rename their "Extended Networks" to whatever names you'd like them to have (in this case those options should not be grayed out). That trailing "_EXT" is not mandatory. And if you'd like to name the Extended Networks to be identical to your router's networks, then so be it.

Thanks for your reply , appreciated. If I rename the Extenders to that of the Router SSID, will it not clash ? will I  have one SSID when connecting to available wireless networks eg PHOME or will I have 3 SSIDs with the same name PHOME /PHOME /PHOME  OR the following with a number at the end Eg PHOME / PHOME1 /PHOME2?
