Strange Latency Spikes in Deco Mesh after Latest Firmware
Hey everyone, first post here, but I’ve been reading this forum for a while. Hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on with my Deco X55 setup.
After updating to the latest firmware a couple weeks ago, I’ve started seeing random latency spikes across my mesh network. Everything’s fine for hours, then suddenly my ping shoots up to 200–300 ms, video calls freeze, and streaming becomes a pixelated mess. It’s super inconsistent, which makes it even harder to troubleshoot.
Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
All Deco units are up to date and synced properly.
Speed tests show full bandwidth when latency isn’t spiking.
Wired connections work perfectly only Wi-Fi devices suffer.
Tried turning off Smart Connect and adjusting QoS priorities no big difference.
The issue mostly affects my PC and smart TV. Phones seem to handle it better, maybe due to how mobile devices switch between bands. I’ve even tested by placing my laptop next to the main unit, and the ping still jumps every now and then, so it’s not just signal range.
I read on another tech forum (while researching for a project using Canadaassignmenthelp.Ca) that certain mesh firmware builds can introduce brief reconnection delays due to channel optimization. Not sure if that’s what’s happening here, but it sounds pretty close to what I’m seeing.
Right now, I’m debating whether to switch the system into AP Mode or wait for the next firmware patch. If anyone else has run into this after updating, please share what worked for you rollback, channel tweak, or anything else.
Thanks in advance! Would really appreciate some insight from others using X-series Decos.
