WPA4220 not connecting to internet
Thursday
Model: TL-WPA4220
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have an existing powerline network with 2-3  4010 units. One is plugged into the router, the other is two floors up and it usually works fine. Occasionally another 4010 is added and that works fine.

I have just got a 4220 because we are convertig an outdoor room and want the WiFi, and the two ethernet ports in there.

The 4220 will pair with the 4010s, clone the WiFi password etc and the ethernet light illuminates when plugged directly into the router BUT will never connect to the internet.

I have tried resetting, repairing, WiFi and ethernet connection but it's having none of it. The units should be compatible but I am stumped about what to do next.

Hi,

When you have the TL-WPA4220 directly connected to your Internet router via Ethernet cable the TL-WPA4220 still has no Internet?

@woozle Thanks for your reply. It looks like this is sorted now but I will explain incase it helps someone else later on.

When the computer is wired into the 4220 via ethernet and the 4220is also plugged directly into the router via ethernet cable, it did get an internet connection.

However, I realised that I had never updated the 4010's firmware so did that (my 4010s are v1.20 but they use the v.1 firmware). Updating the firmware made both 4010s lose their internet connection so I unplugged them and plugged them back in and suddenly the whole network was there, including the 4220.

I don't know if it was the firmware or the power cycle but some things for others to try.
