Having just moved house, I have taken over a working mesh system.

Having registered on the TP-Link site, I downloaded the app but cannot get past the log-in page where I am told the password is wrong.

Having reset the password successfully, it is still not accepted.

If I try to re-register, I am told the email is already in use.

How do I get past this problem?

I understand that you have moved into a new home and taken over an existing Deco Mesh system. After registering on the TP-Link site and downloading the app, you are unable to log in—your password is not accepted, and even after resetting it successfully, you still cannot log in. Attempting to re-register tells you the email is already in use.

Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:

1. Double-check your email and password: Make sure you are entering the correct email address and the new password you set during the reset process.

2. Check your email folders: Sometimes, activation or password reset emails can be filtered into your spam or junk folder. Please check these folders for any messages from TP-Link.

3. Try a different email address: If possible, try registering with a different email address to see if the issue persists.

4. Wait and try again: Occasionally, there may be a delay in the system updating your password. Wait a few minutes and try logging in again.

5. Refer to our FAQ: For more detailed troubleshooting, please visit: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1127/

6. Contact Support: If you have tried the above steps and still cannot log in, please contact our technical support team for further assistance.

Hi, welcome to the community.

The community account also uses the TP-Link ID.

Did you use the same email ID for both the community and Deco App login?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I did use the same email and password for both.

Does the fact that I have taken over a working system rather than installing it from scratch cause the app not to recognise the router. I note that the SSID and password are not Deco XXX as on the label on the router.

I have tried to scan the label as part of a manual set up but it was not recognised

I have emailed the previous owner to see if he has ever used the app to see if I can use his credentials.

Hi, thanks for the update

If you don't mind setting up Deco from scratch, you can hold the reset pinhole for 1 second to factory reset the Deco. It will unbind from the previous owner ID, and you can set up under your own email.

Best regards.
