TC-W9970 with 4G modem
Hi, I have a TP-Link TC-W9970 DSL router. As my ISP decided to terminate ADSL
connections because "nobody uses that anymore", I have to look elsewhere.
I tought maybe my computer tablet or cell phone could be of some help. The
tablet support broadband/cell connection, I have direct internet (no wi-fi
needed). Then I can connect the tablet to a computer USB port and the
computer has now internet access. In fact the tablet is like a 4G USB dongle
or modem. Please note, no wi-fi is accepted at home.
I tried something, I connected the tablet to the USB port of the TC-W9970
router then I went to the config software (192.168.1.1). As you may guess
it didn`t work but I have to say I don`t understand all these technical
parameters like DHCP, subnet mask ....... Whatever, can I connect te router
that way ?
I also have a TP-Link TC-W9980 DSL router. Again, no luck either.
If these 2 routers cannot do it, what TP-Link router could connect with the
tablet / phone to get internet access ? That router only needs ethernet ports,
no wi-fi.
Thanks for help / info

Hello@DummySushi ,
Welcome to our community.
If you want to use 3G/4G mode, please refer to TD-W9970(EU)_V1_UG(from page 18).
It is recommended that you can hard reset the modem before you configure the modem.

Hi. I should have been more specific in my first message. I already have the user guide
and I tried to configure the TD-W9970 router.
Here are the steps that I followed:
01 - Login to 192.168.1.1
02 - Operation mode >>>>> 3G/4G Mode
<<<<< Save >>>>>
03 - Quick Setup Region >>>>> Canada
04 - Quick Setup Time Zone >>>>> Eastern Time
<<<<< Next >>>>>
05 - Quick Setup 3G/4G Mobile ISP >>>>> Bell (Bell Canada)
06 - Quick Setup 3G/4G Set Dial Number ... >>>>> Yes (Try this first)
07 - Quick Setup 3G/4G Authentication Type >>>>> AUTO_AUTH
08 - Quick Setup 3G/4G Dial Number >>>>> 15142093925 (This is the phone number
of my Android tablet)
09 - Quick Setup 3G/4G APN >>>>> pda . bell . ca
<<<<< Next >>>>>
10 - Quick Setup Wireless Wireless >>>>> Disable
<<<<< Next >>>>>
11 - Quick Setup Confirm Connection type >>>>> PPP3G
12 - Quick Setup Confirm ISP >>>>> Bell
13 - Quick Setup Confirm Dial Number >>>>> 15142093925
14 - Quick Setup Confirm APN >>>>> pda . bell . ca
15 - Quick Setup Confirm Wireless >>>>> Disabled

It is not "Success" as it doesn't work. Diagnostic menu says:
<<<<< WAN interface is not configured >>>>>
***** I will try to post the LOG file in my next message.

Here is the LOG from the Quick Setup procedure. We can see the Android tablet is clearly identified (HUAWEI CMR-AL09)
