Model: RE305
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.50 Build 250821 Rel.58303n (6985)

Hello,

Connecting a smart thermostat (Netatmo) to the RE305 seems impossible for me. During the installation of the thermostat inside the Netatmo Energy application, I select my extended network, enter the password and then after a while the app says "Wrong password", this also happen when the RE305 is set the AP mode. I'm sure that the password is good, because :

* I can connect smartphones and laptops to the RE305 using the password successfully

* I can connect the smart thermostat to an old phone emitting an AP

The RE405 V4.0 use the last firmware : 1.0.50 Build 250821 Rel.58303n (6985). The RE305 extend a 2.4GHz network, SSID is different than my main network.

There's only one thing I have some doubt : the security mode is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal and I read that Netatmo don't like mixed mode but only WPA2-PSK. This option is not available on the RE305 webUI.

Any solution instead of buying a new extender not from TPLink ?

Thank you.

  @woozle Hello,

After trying the "WPA2/WPA3-Personal" setting I have the same problem. I even tried the "WPA3" only setting.

So I ended by activating a separate network of my main router, set the extended network with no security connect the Netatmo relay and then hide the SSID broadcast from the TPLink. Not a good practice but I don't want to buy another network extender for a simple bug.

Also, during the WIFI configuration on the Netatmo app, when selecting the extended network without security the app ask for a password. You cannot enter a blank password, so enter anything else and it will work.

  @Dlazzy

Hi,

Have you already tried "WPA2/WPA3-Personal" instead of "WPA/WPA2-Personal"?

Also make sure that during initial installation the device running the Netatmo app is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that is to be used for the thermostat. (i.e. the 2.4 GHz network of the RE305)

Other than that I can't think of anything else that could be done.

  @woozle hello,

Thanks for you reply. I'll try with WPA2/WPA3-Personal and let you know if I have a success or not.

Hello@Dlazzy ,

Thank you for sharing your final solution. I believe it will be very helpful to other users with similar needs.

The RE305 can improve WiFi coverage, it is recommended that you use it to provide network access for other devices.
