Android weather app blocked by TP-Link BE65 ?
I have an internet modem provided by my ISP, that was connected to a competitors mesh system (8 years old, Wifi 5). The "main" mesh system node failed, so I replaced it with a TP-Link Deco BE65 as a "plug-in replacement", so now the first Deco is connected to the ISP modem by cable, the other BE65's are connected by Wifi to the first Deco and each other. This upgraded my mesh system to Wifi 7.
The TP-Link devices are installed as mesh-system, all settings default. SSID and password same as the old system, so all clients automatically reconnect.
They are all happy, including an HP printer, various Apple devices (iPhones, iPad), two laptops (HP and Lenovo) and they all report excellent speeds with a speedtest.
One phone is less happy (Samsung S10+, Android). The wifi signal-strength indication is never "full" (optimal), the Deco app also shows its signal as Weak or Average, which never happened with the old mesh system. But basically everything works on this Samsung S10+ phone. Except for the built-in Samsung Android weather app, that doesn't seem to get a connection anymore.
Is there anything in the TP-Link Deco BE65 that might block certain apps from connecting? Any logfiles to view or download to see if it does?
The BE65 is in "Wifi-router" mode as it was automatically setup. Using google and this forum, I noticed there also is an "access point" setting, which disables some built-in functionality of the Deco.
1. Could that potentially restore access to the weather app on the S10+?
2. Is it just as easy to switch back to Wifi-router mode (as it is to switch to Access Point mode) if this turns out it doesn't help at all?
3. Any caveats before I switch the Deco to "Access Point" mode?
