Dear Tapo Support Team,

I would like to raise a serious complaint regarding your smart bulbs. All of my Tapo L530B Light Bulbs are resetting themselves every 2–3 days, forcing me to reconnect them to Wi-Fi and reconfigure them each time. This is extremely frustrating and completely unacceptable. I'm wasting one hour of my time every week to reconnect and reconfigure them.

For clarity, I never turn these lights on or off more than twice in any of these situations, so the resets are not being triggered by user actions. The bulbs are resetting entirely on their own.

I own eight Tapo bulbs, and at this point I am genuinely ready to throw all of them in the bin and switch to a different brand if this issue is not resolved immediately.

You urgently need to CHANGE the way the reset mechanism is triggered, either make it significantly harder to activate or implement a different method entirely. The current design is clearly faulty, as these bulbs are resetting themselves without any user input.

Please escalate this issue to your engineering team and provide a permanent fix. I'm expecting a prompt response and a real solution; otherwise, I will no longer be using or recommending Tapo products.

When there are fluctuations in the electrical circuit, it's possible to trigger the reset mechanism (soft reset: turn off&on for 3 rounds) of the smart bulb. Do you often use the physical switch to control the smart bulb? Or are there frequent power outages at your home? Either of these could explain why this thing occurred. Sometimes the circuit power may be too weak to visibly illuminate the bulb, even though it has technically been toggled on or off. So during a reset, you might miss the light flicker—but the reset is still happening internally.

We have plans to update the smart bulb's reset method to avoid accidental resets caused by unstable power supply. And now there are beta firmware available for community users, you can check this article for more details. Tapo Smart Bulb Reset Method Update -- Reducing Bulb Resets Due to Unstable Power Supply
