Deco E4 M4 positioning and wi fi speed
Deco E4 M4 positioning and wi fi speed
Hello and thanks in advance for the answer.
I live in a 4 floors house.
I bought a set of 4 decos (3 M4R and 1 E4)
I placed it one per floor.
Main Deco M4R in ground floor
Satellite 1 M4R in floor -1
Satellite 2 M4R in floor 1
Satellite 3 E4 in floor 2
all of them have power strenght "medium"
Satellite 3 is connected to satellite 2 which is connected to main deco. Satellite 1 connected to main deco.
My ISP provider runs at 1gbps
If i connect to the wifi of the ISP modem, i get 800mbps
If I connect to DECO wifi on main deco, i get 250mpbs
Then, satellite 2 90mbps, and satellite 3 20mpbs
I set DECO network in accesspoint mode.
Can't find better positions to get stronger signal, i tried all combinantions...
But it seems that speed is cut of is already in Main Deco, non only in the satellites (which I would explain with distance, even if it's just one floor away).
Is there any chance to avoid this speed drop?
Thanks in advance!

@19_pc_85 Hmmm so are you using any network switch between ISP modem and Deco Unit? What's your linkspeed on phone or laptop after connected to Main Deco WiFi and ISP Modem WiFi? Have you tested the speed through Main Deco by using ethernet cable? Have u tried Connection Preference to connect Deco to Deco for better signals and performance?

Hello. Thanks for your answer.
Main DECO is connected with ethernet to a port of the ISP modem/router with a cat6 cable.
If I connect with phoneto DECO wifi on main deco, i get 250mpbs
If i connect with phone to the wifi of the ISP modem, i get 800mbps
I did not try to connect laptop with lan to main DECO.
I confirm i choose the connection preferences to keep the schema: Satellite1 --> Main <-- Satellite2 <--- Satellite3 (for some unknonw reasons satellite2 connected automatically often to main deco instead of sat2 so I forced it to hook on sat2).
Thanks again for the answer!

@19_pc_85 Have you tried main>> Satellite 1>> Satellite 2>> Satellite3 ?

No because I am in a 4 floor house (-1, ground, 1 and 2)
Main deco is on ground floor connected to the ISP modem
Sat1 Is on basement (-1 floor)
The others are on floor 1 and 2
The schema you suggested Will leave 2 floors between sat1 and sat1.
Even now, sat1 (which is practically below main deco, has a signal strength "medium")

@19_pc_85 You can connect Basement Deco with Main Deco which is located at Ground Floor and also connect First Floor Deco with Main Deco and connect Second Floor Deco with First Floor Deco.

Yes.
That's how I did it indeed.
Main deco at ground
Basement deco connected to main deco
1st floor deco connected to main deco at ground
2nd floor deco connected to 1st floor deco.
The problem is that already the main deco has a speed test of 250mbps while I am in front of it
While my connection is no less then 800mbps.
In this configuration, 2nd floor deco has a speed test of 20mbps :(

@19_pc_85 Have you check QoS settings? I think there is a limit set in QoS settings. You can turn it OFF or set the limit to 1000/1000 Mbps.

Hi, there haven't been many advanced features left in AP mode. It is suggested to set another Deco M4 as the main Deco in case there is something wrong with the hardware of the original main M4.
How to replace the main Deco with another Deco
By the way, can I have the model number of the device that you used for the speed test?
How long have you had the Deco M4? Did the speed issue start recently?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

Hi, how about the wireless link speed on the Google Pixel 7 Pro: How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client
Deco M4 is 5 GHz: 867 Mbps (802.11ac)+2.4 GHz: 300 Mbps (802.11n). With 1Gbps internet bandwidth, the expected wireless speed could be about 450-600mbps over 5GHz WiFi.
Have you ever tested the Ethernet wired connection speed to the main Deco M4?
It is also recommended to set a different M4 as the main Deco:How to replace the main Deco with another Deco
If the Ethernet speed is close to 1Gbps and a different main Deco made no difference, it is very likely a hardware issue, and you might need an advanced model, such as Deco X50(WiFi6) or Deco XE75(WiFi 6e with 6GHz wireless band):

Thank you very much.
