Model: TL-WPA7817 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I bought my new tl-wpa7817 kit and started wirking fine. Once I logged in the tpPLC app I got a prompt to update the firmware of my connected extender. I got a rebooting finished succesfukky message and righr adterwards the connection is lost. The only LED that is lit on the extender's panel is the switch one, everything else remains off. I have tried qnd failed to pair the extender with adapter, to pair the extender with the router (WPS), and to hard-reset the extender. It seems that everything is frozen.

Any ideas and similar experiences on how to by-pass the issue

Hello @Giorgos74 ,

Welcome to our community.

It seems that after updating the firmware of your Powerline Adapter extender through the tpPLC app, the device now appears to be stuck or frozen, with only the power/switch LED lit and no connection to the network or successful pairing.

Here are some steps you can try:
1. Try plugging the extender into a different wall outlet to rule out any electrical problems. Make sure it is plugged directly into a wall socket, not into a power strip or surge protector, as these can interfere with the powerline signal.

2. Ensure your Powerline Adapter is running the latest firmware. If the firmware update was interrupted or failed, the device may be in a faulty state. You can find instructions for updating firmware here: How to upgrade firmware of TP-Link Powerline Adapter?

3. Reset the powerline extender to factory settings and reconfigure it. To reset: Press and hold the 'pair' or 'reset' button on the device for at least 6 seconds. After resetting, try pairing the extender with the adapter again. For configuration steps, refer to this FAQ: How to secure (pair) the Powerline Network?

If you have tried all of the above and the extender is still not responding (only the switch LED is on and you cannot pair or reset), please contact TP-Link support with the details of your troubleshooting steps for further assistance. There may be a need for advanced recovery or replacement if the firmware update caused the device to become unresponsive.

Thank you.  I'll give that a try and will let you know if it fixes the problem.
