Deco AXE5400 router and AirPrint
After spending the best part of Christmas Eve trying to set up AirPrint on my HP p1102w printer on my new network, I began suspecting that something on my new router might be blocking. After long googling I found the suggestion that AirPrint might work if I set it up on a guest network. In fact, this worked. Now my next question is: which is the different setting preventing AirPrint to function on my main network? When I set up my printer, it can see the main network but the main network doesn't seem to see my printer.
I also found the suggestion that enabling IGMP would solve the problem but unfortunately there is no such option on my AXE5400 settings, as far as I can tell.

Hi, can I have the firmware version of your Deco AXE5400/Deco XE75?
Are you saying that the HP P1102w printer can connect to the Guest network, but not the Main WiFi network? Would there be any error message when the printer failed to connect to the Main Network?
Deco XE75 should also support an IoT network. Will it connect to the IoT SSID with 2.4GHz only/WPA2 security?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

@David-TP Hello,
thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I confirm that my printer can connect to the Guest Network, but not to the main network. There is no specific error message, just the blue light stays on when the printer is connected and flashes when it isn't. I tried enabling the IoT network and the printer did connect too. I can toggle between my networks on my printer setup and the blue connection light showed that I was connecting with the Guest Network and with the IoT network, but when I chose the main network it started flashing again.
My firmware on the main router, as well as on the other three access points is: 1.3.0 Build 20250722 Rel. 38703

Hi, thank you very much for the update.
Did you set Deco XE75 into "Wireless router" or "Access point" mode?
-You can find the Operation Mode on the Deco App>More>Advanced.
Currently, there are two situations:
#1: The HP P1102w printer can connect to the Guest and IoT network, but not the Main Network.
#2: The HP P1102w printer can connect to the Main Network, but Apple devices can't find it during AirPrint, and the WiFi icon on the printer is also flashing. AirPrint works when the Printer and Apple devices are connected to the Guest and IoT network, and the WiFi icon on the printer is solid.
I guess the reported case is #2. Can you consistently reproduce this issue?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

@David-TP Helli again. I think that the #2 situation does not actually exist. When I set up the printer, I make my connection via USB and a web interface localhost), on a computer. From there a network scan can recognise the existing SSIDs. If I choose the main network the blue light in the printer keeps flashing. When I choose Guest or IoT, the blue light will stay on, showing that it has successfully connected. There is no issue with Apple or non Apple devices. All work properly.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
It is suggested to disable "Fast Roaming" and "Beamforming" on the Deco App>More>Advanced.
Have you tried to temporarily disable the 5GHz under the Main WiFi Network to see whether it made any difference?
By the way, I see the HP P1102w printer also supports WPS setup. Did you also test the WPS button on the Deco App>More>Advanced?
Furthermore, the IoT Network is not isolated from the Main WiFi network. When the printer is on the IoT Network, the main network devices will still be able to access the printer. As the printer is 2.4Ghz only, it might be better to connect the printer to the IoT network.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@pieemme Hello,
I made several attempts. Connection through WPS did not seem to have any success. However I noticed, by chance, that when my printer is set on the web interface on the IoT network and the blue light signals an effective connection, the printer can also be accessed from a device connected to the main network. Is this possible?

@pieemme Sorry, I think your last lines confirmed my assumption. So the solution is to create an IoT network for the printer and to connect normally to the main network with the other devices, such as computers, smartphones, etc.
