Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.6.0 Build 20250720 Rel. 54900

I was setting up NextDNS on my Deco router, which required me to enter the NextDNS IP address manually. When I set the DNS address to auto, both the primary and secondary addresses were passed down to the client from the ISP via DHCP without any problems. However, when I configured the DNS address manually, the primary DNS address that I had specified was assigned, but the router IP address was assigned as the secondary DNS address instead. I don't have parental controls enabled.

I found a workaround by specifying the DNS IP in the DHCP server configuration, but I'd still want to see this issue resolved. Thank you.

Hi, did you set NextDNS in both the primary and secondary DNS servers under IPV4, such as:

Primary: 45.90.28.232
Secondary: 45.90.30.232

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

@David-TP Yes, both DNS servers were configured in the Internet Connection settings under DNS Address.

Hi, thanks for the update.

May I know your internet service provider?

Can you send some screenshots showing that "only the primary DNS address was assigned, but the secondary DNS address was still the router IP address" to support.forum@tp-link.com?

(Please add the forum ID#853346 to the subject.)

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
