Hello.

The USB port on the ER706W can be used to connect a backup internet connection using a USB modem.

My question concerns the following option/situation (someone might say, "Why bother asking? You could try it yourself?" – I could, but I don't want to break anything, and I'm not sure if that's even possible).

I have an external device called a Nokia 4G05-B. I don't know what to call it: modem/router/antenna. It doesn't matter – as long as it works – I insert my carrier's SIM card, connect an RJ45 cable, turn it on, and after a few moments, I have internet on the other end of the RJ45 cable. That's how it works for me as a backup connection on the WAN3 port.

Now—since I need to free up the WAN3 port and don't want to buy a switch—will connecting my Nokia to the USB port on my ER706W via the network card in the photo work? Is this even possible, or will I have to buy a switch?

After several hours of testing, I confirm the correct operation of the external LTE/5G kit connected via a network card/USB adapter to the previously configured USB port of the router.

  @Ronczkos

since you are afraid to try, I did :-)
I have connected a USB to Rj45 adapter on an ER706W, to my great surprise it worked right away.

  @MR.S Lucky you... Did you change anything in the settings? Because following your lead, I also connected it... and nothing 😞

  @MR.S What a fool I am... And the USB port will turn on and configure itself??? 🫣

I can confirm - after configuring the USB port (in my case, as a backup connection), everything works as it should 👍👍👍
