Firmware Version: 1.0.14

Hello! I just purchased an S112 and I'm loving it, I've been wanting this device forever!

I want to get another one and use it as a wireless switch, but I'm having a compatibility issue. I can't setup automations in Google Home or Alexa to control other non-Tapo devices when the switch is actuated. I can do it in SmartThings, but unfortunately my smart devices are not compatible with SmartThings, so I would need to setup these automations in Alexa or Google Home. Is there anything I can do to achieve this?

Just to clarify, I'm able to control the S112 from Alexa and Google Home, what I can't do is use it as a trigger for other automations.

Unfortunately, Tapo S112 is not supported as an automation trigger on any of these platforms.

You may post a feature request thread for it to gather other users' opinions, if someone shares the same thoughts with you, they can vote for your post and join the discussion. Tapo - Feature Requests Our product team will review the feature requests regularly, hot topics with detailed background information (e.g., use scenarios, reasons why you want or don't want a particular feature, etc) will be prioritized for evaluation.

Hi  @jm_carmona,

there is a work around which i use for a similar scenario, (not ideal as it requires an additional tapo device), but it works. I have an S200B button (which is also not compatible with Google), which powers on third party downlights, which are Google controlled.

To make your scenario work do the following:

  • First of all you need to purchase a P100 plug which will only be used for this automation. Plug it in a place which is out of the way and can't be removed or turned on/off. It will be used as a bridge between Tapo and Google for the automation.
  • When the S112 is turned on/off, then use Tapo automation to also turn the P100 plug on/off, so it mirrors the switch.
  • Then use Google or Alexa automation (as they do work with P100's) to turn on/off your non-tapo devices via the automations in that platform based on the P100 switching on/off.

Unfortunately you need to purchase additional hardware (P100's) for each switch, (I have a powerboard full of them in my house for this purpose).

Hope this makes sense and let me know if you need any assistance with the above.
