Very slow smb file transfer when using 6ghz band
Hi
My AXE75 is configured as an Access point, connected to the ISP box. One computer is connected in wifi6 (using realtek 8922ae), the other is on the 6ghz band (using intel ax210). Both has a fast access to the internet (speedtest = 800mbps). But when trying to copy files through local network between the two computer I'm having 1.5 to 3MB/s only ...
When both computer are connected in wifi6, file copy is about 60MB/s. So, it seems there is something wrong with SMB on the 6ghz band. Any clue ?
Copying a file from a Galaxy S25 to the computer connected on 6ghz is very slow (300KB/s !!). Copying to the computer connected on wifi6 is better but slower than the ISP wifi6 box... It's seems like SMB is not well implemented on this routeur.
Thanks in advance

Hello @Astrakan7,
Welcome to our community.
Have you updated the firmware recently? What is the firmware version of your router? Is it 1.5.1?
After connecting to 6GHz, has the file copy speed always been this slow, or is it a recent development?
Is the Wi-Fi 6 you mentioned 5GHz? Have you tried connecting both clients to 6 GHz and testing the file copy speed?

Hello
Yes, I purchased this device recently and did the update right after, so I don't know how it was before.
Actual firmware is 1.5.1
Wifi6 is using 5ghz
When both computer are connected to 6ghz, it's very slow too to copy smb files : 3MB/s ! Computers are close to the routeur (3.5m and 2m) with full signal strengh.
I noticed today that even speedtest is very slow with 6ghz : 30-40mbps. Yesterday it was 800 ... I changed the channel and it was the same. Actual speedtest with wifi6 is ok (not a problem on ISP side today)
No 6ghz users in the vicinity.

Another fact is that copying files from my galaxy s25 to one of my two PCs (using third party file manager with SMB), is by far faster using wifi6 of my ISP box than axe75 wifi6.
Seriously disapointed by this routeur...

One more problem is that the 5ghz band can disappear during a long time. No way ...

Hi@Astrakan7 ,
This can be quite frustrating. I'll send you a beta firmware; please check if it helps.

By the way, when testing the speed, was the Galaxy S25 connected to the router's 5GHz band? How to upgrade the firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers.

I also did a speedtest with the app on my S25 connected to 6GHz, at 50cm of the AXE75 : about 100mbps not more.

Hi@Astrakan7 ,
Have you tried the beta firmware? Does it help?

hi @Joseph-TP
I can see the link you sent me about fw update but not any link to download a beta firmware.

Hi,
After reading your posts I decided to try the firmware version 1.5.1 on my Archer AXE75.
https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2026/202601/20260105/axe75v1-up-ver1-5-1-P1[20251202-rel60030].zip
I can attest that this 6 GHz issue is real. I am also noticing it on my AXE75 after upgrading to version 1.5.1. A factory restore does not solve it either.
What is weird is that while most of the time the data throughput on the 6 GHz band is very low (< 100 Mbps), there are also periods when the data throughput is what I would consider "normal". This happens without moving anything around or changing any settings.
By the way, for me all types of traffic are affected, not just SMB.
