Hi TP-Link Team,

I am a user of the Archer GE230. While I am impressed with the hardware performance, I’ve noticed a significant lack of feature parity compared to the Deco ecosystem (like the Deco M5).

In the Deco App, users can manually select a "Preferred Band" (2.4GHz or 5GHz) for specific clients. This is extremely helpful for IoT devices like printers or smart plugs that struggle with Smart Connect and tend to connect to the 5GHz band despite having poor stability there.

Currently, on the Archer GE230 through the Tether App, the only way to fix this is by disabling Smart Connect and separating SSIDs, which ruins the seamless roaming experience for the rest of my Wi-Fi 7 devices.

Request: Please consider adding the "Connection Preference / Preferred Band" feature to the Tether App for high-end Archer routers. If a legacy device like the Deco M5 can do it, a flagship Wi-Fi 7 router like the GE230 should definitely have this level of granular control.

It would be much more efficient than having to set up a separate IoT network just to force a device into the 2.4GHz band.

Best regards.

Hello @raul4store ,

Your feedback is invaluable!

We have reported your request to the relevant department regarding the addition of manual selection of the Preferred Band for WiFi 7 routers. If evaluated, this feature is very likely to be added in a future firmware update.

We are always committed to optimizing the user experience and hope to gradually implement this feature through future system updates. We will keep you informed of the progress as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
