Model: Archer VR400
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: Latest

Hi,

I'm unfortunate enough to have Sky ADSL copper line, I've used a w9970 modem router for years now just fine with Sky but this week while I was trouble shooting an unrelated issue I factory reset the router.

Following the factory reset I couldn't get the 9970 to authenticate to Sky(MERS)_VDSL no matter what I tried, so I bought an archer VR400 as it supposedly had better support for DHCP option 61 only to run into the same issue. (I had updated both to the latest firmware)

Previously running the quick setup with the Sky(MER)_VDSL worked just fine, but it's not authenticating anymore. I've tried everything I've found online to trouble shoot it, cloning the PC MAC, finding the previous dynamic NAC and manually inputting that, manually inputting the connection details with vlan 101 etc. but nothings worked.

I'm utterly confused why something that previously worked fine is now not able to authenticate with DHCP 6. Any help would be dearly welcomed!

To set up an Archer VR400 for Sky Broadband (MER/DHCP Option 61), select
Dynamic IP in the WAN settings, set VLAN ID to 101 (for VDSL), and enter anything@skyadsl as the username. Option 61 requires a specific Client ID (usually MACaddress@skybroadband or arbitrary@skyadsl).
Key Configuration Details for VR400 (Sky MER):
  • Connection Type: Dynamic IP (or MER/DHCP).
  • VLAN ID: 101.
  • Username (Option 61): Although often ignored, some setups require username anything@skyadsl or a cloned MAC address.
  • Authentication: DHCP Option 61 is critical for older Sky VDSL connections.
If the connection fails, it is recommended to clone the MAC address of the original Sky Hub.
If that doesn't help you'd better check on SKY forums for more details on that matter.
