X50 BETA FIRMWARE SAME AS OFFICIAL RELEASE?
We have 3 deco x50 v1.30
2 just got the update in the app and now have firmware 1.3.1 Build 20252211 Rel. 36074
The third unit is not getting any updates in the app, so decided to download it from site and update manually, but the same firmware is not available to download.
I saw the thread containing the beta link:
and downloaded it, and the downloaded firmware is also named 1.3.1 Build 20252211 Rel. 36074.
Is this firmware downloaded via the beta link the same as the official release from within the app?
If they are the same, does it mean the official release also has the same conditions as the beta release, for example:
"6. Consent to Collection and Use of Data
6.1 You acknowledge that TP-Link will be collecting, using, storing, processing, and analyzing diagnostic, technical, error reports, crash dumps, usage, and other related data from your devices that are running beta software to help TP-Link improve our products and services."
Would really like to know before upgrading.
Thanks.

Hi, the firmware in the Early Access thread is often the same as the official bin file. The official release process usually takes 2 or 3 more weeks before OTA release via the Deco App. Also, in the firmware release phase, the OTA update is gradually rolled out based on the MAC address, and users would detect this version at different times. So we might launch an EA test first for the interested users expecially when the new firmware has introduced many new features.
It is ok if you plan to manually upload the 1.3.1 firmware on the last Deco X50_V1.3 via web admin UI.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

I just want to be extra clear on the info
1. specifically the 1.3.1 firmware download link in the beta thread, is that firmware file identical to the official OTA 1.3.1 firmware?
2. If the answer is yes, does that mean the 1.3.1 firmware download link in the beta thread is NOT beta version?
3. If the firmware download link in the thread IS beta version, is the official OTA realease also beta version since the files are identical?
4. Does the official 1.3.1 OTA release and the 1.3.1 firmware dowload link in the beta thread have the beta version conditions of uploading user data and statistics etc?
Can you please be specific on the info as I would like to know before updating manually.
Thankyou.

Its been weeks now and 1 unit of our 3 pack still hasnt received the 1.3.1 OTA release.
Since you cant be clear about the beta vs ota firmware, can you please upload the OFFICIAL OTA 1.3.1 FIRMWARE to the download centre so we can download and manually update?

@teapealink Good question as I am in the same situation with some X50 (US v1.3) units not upgrading
@David-TP Are you able to check if there are any issues with the rollout and if the Beta release is the same as the official release?

Hi, sorry I was delayed for some days.
The OTA pushed firmware is the same bin file as the beta test thread.
Deco X50/X55_V1.30/v1.32 have no EU version, so the EU official site doesn't have any firmware under V1.30.
For other official sites, it might depend on the local web support. I saw that tplink.ca had uploaded the Deco X55_1.3.1 firmware.
I'm not quite sure what you plan to ask here:
"Does the official 1.3.1 OTA release and the 1.3.1 firmware download link in the beta thread have the beta version conditions of uploading user data and statistics etc?"
But if the feature hasn't been mentioned on Deco X50/X55_V1.3_1.3.1 Introduced Channel Selection, WiFi Access Control and WireGuard VPN, the official 1.3.1 doesn't support it either.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

it means that the beta version has different conditions to the official release.
from post #1 .....
"If they are the same, does it mean the official release also has the same conditions as the beta release, for example:

But you still havent answered the main question which relates to the above question.
You just replied that the BETA download file is identical to the official OTA release, so please clearly answer the following question:
IS the file in the beta thread NOT beta and a copy of the official ota release ?
OR is the official ota release a copy of the BETA firmware which means the OTA is actually beta firmware?
Thanks again.

Thanks for the update.
Now, I see what you mean. Appreciate the detailed explanation.
They are the general beta agreement details. The implementation of specific terms will depend on the actual circumstances. Like the 1.3.1 beta bin file as well as the official bin file, they will not collect personal user data. Other test programs require extra consent to the Privacy Policy, such as the Deco Aireal, which will be clearly stated at the beginning of the trial test.
And the file in the beta thread is NOT beta and a copy of the official OTA release.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.
