Request for GPON Authentication Configuration Support
Hello all,
I have the possibility to use the SFP+ stick provided by my ISP, which works correctly on my line when connected to an older router. However, my ISP requires an initial GPON authentication using a password before proceeding with the subsequent PPPoE authentication.
After reviewing the available configuration options on the GE800, I was unable to find any setting that allows the insertion of GPON authentication credentials.
Currently, I am using a ZTE GPON ONT that performs the initial GPON authentication, with the GE800 connected downstream to handle the PPPoE session.
This setup works, but it introduces a bandwidth bottleneck, limiting overall internet performance and preventing full utilization of the router’s capabilities.
For this reason, I would like to ask whether it would be possible to implement support for configurable GPON authentication credentials in a future firmware update, enabling full direct fiber authentication without requiring an external ONT.
Alternatively, is there already a way to perform GPON authentication outside of the standard web interface or mobile application (for example via SSH or other advanced configuration methods)?
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
V
