On most TP-Link hardware the number after "Build" is a code that resembles the date on which the firmware was "built" (or made). The format is YYMMDD.

 

I am not sure about you particular case, but TP-Link does indeed often prevent users from downgrading the currently installed firmware to an older version. This could be the reason why your attempts to downgrade to that rather old firmware from 2016 have failed. 

 

 

Hey, I appreciate your reply. Thanks. I did not know that I was downloading the older version. It's all I got. I selected the v12 in the select option and I got that version (older) I don't know. My router seems to stopped working after a 2 or 3 hours. I'm not sure what is wrong. I'm thinking there is an error and upgrading it will remove the problem. I don't think its overheat problem cause I place it in a well ventilated area. Where can I get the most latest firmware? I've been googling and I cannot find.

I think we can be pretty sure there will be no more new firmware updates with functional changes for this older version of the TL-WR841N.

 

The firmware for the European model also stopped at 3.16.9 Build 230317.  https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wr841n/v12/#Firmware

 

And if the router worked fine for years and just recently started to fail after 2 or 3 hours, then this won't be related to the firmware anyway.
