Bonjour,

Hello @Drops ,

Welcome to our community.

According to Google Translate, it looks like you're unable to access your shared work files remotely on your NX510v 5G router, even though the same SIM card lets you access them when used via phone tethering. If there is any discrepancy, please describe it in English.

This is likely related to how your SIM card carrier handles network addressing. Here's what's probably happening and how to troubleshoot:

The most common cause: Your router may not have a public IP address from your carrier. When you use phone tethering, your phone typically gets a public IP, allowing direct remote connections. However, when the SIM is in the router, the carrier may place it behind their own NAT (Network Address Translation), which blocks incoming remote access connections.

Please follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check if your router has a public IP address:
   • Log into your router at http://tplinkmodem.net
   • Go to Advanced > Status > Internet section
   • Look at the IPv4 Address shown there
   • Check if this is a public IP address (you can search online "is [your IP] a public IP" to verify)

2. If it's NOT a public IP address: This confirms the cause. Your SIM card carrier has another NAT product on their side, which blocks remote access and port forwarding. You'll need to contact your SIM card carrier and ask them to assign a public IP address to your SIM card/account.

3. If it IS a public IP address: You may need to configure port forwarding on your router to allow access to your work file server. You'll need to know which ports your work file sharing service uses (contact your IT department for this information), then set up Virtual Servers under Advanced > NAT Forwarding.

Re:No access to shared files
Wednesday

@Joseph-TP Thank you very much, I think you're right, after differents tests.

If I get a public address, will I lose security?

Thank you

Hello @Drops ,

Getting a public IP address does not mean you will lose security. Your TP-Link router will still provide the same level of protection through its built-in firewall and NAT (Network Address Translation) functionality. Here's what you should know:

Security remains intact:
• Your router's firewall continues to block unsolicited incoming connections by default
• NAT still hides your internal network devices from direct external access
• All devices behind your router remain protected

What changes with a public IP:
• Your router becomes directly addressable from the internet (but still protected by the firewall)
• You can enable features like remote management, port forwarding, or hosting services if you choose to
• These features only work if you explicitly configure them • nothing opens automatically

Best practices to maintain security:
• Keep your router's firmware up to date
• Use strong passwords for your router's admin interface and WiFi
• Only enable remote access features (like remote management or port forwarding) if you actually need them
• Consider using WPA3 encryption for your WiFi if your router supports it
• Regularly review which ports or services you have opened
