Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.2.0 3.1.9 v6087.0 Build 241025 Rel.53781n

Hi,

We have just been supplied one of these for our new 2GBPS broadband connection.

The issue we seem to have is that the wired ethernet speed using speedtest.net is half the speed than if the same laptop is connected via wifi.

The laptop is connected with a short cat6 cable into the 2.5GBPS post on the router (obviously we only expect to get 1GBPS as this is the max speed of the ethernet port on the laptop but we only get around 500mbps download/upload using speedtest.net.

If we disconnected the laptop from the ethernet cable and connect using wifi instead the download/upload results on speedtest.net are in excess of 1.3GBPS each way.

We are using the same server on speedtest.net to run the test.

Any ideas as to what could be slowing the ethernet ports down ?

Many thanks for your time.

How about using EX820v ethernet port LAN1-LAN3 ? What't the bandwidth in this case ?

Try using another ethernet cable like the one in EX820v kit. CAT5E cable would suffice as well.

Re:Slow Wired Ethernet Speeds on EX820v

Hello @higfield ,

Welcome to our community.

EX820v is a customized device specifically designed for local Service Providers. Its software is tailored to meet the unique requirements of these providers, ensuring alignment with their specific needs. Due to the specialized nature of the firmware on your device, our ability to provide troubleshooting may be limited.

We can certainly offer some troubleshooting tips that may help resolve your issue. Please consider the following:

1. Verify Ethernet Cable and Port:
• Even though you're using a Cat6 cable, try using a different Cat5E or Cat6 cable to rule out a cable issue.
• Try connecting to a different LAN port on the router to see if the issue persists.

2. Check Port Negotiation Speed:
• Log in to the router's web management page at https://tplinkwifi.net
• Go to Network Map, click the Router icon, and scroll down to "Ethernet Status" to verify the current negotiated speed between your laptop and the router. It should show 1Gbps if your laptop's Ethernet port supports it.

3. Disable QoS:
• Log in to the web interface at http://tplinkwifi.net
• Go to Advanced > QoS and make sure QoS is disabled, as this feature can affect Ethernet performance.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, we recommend contacting your Service Provider who supplied the device or local support, as they are best suited to provide the necessary assistance for your device.
