Model: Archer TX20U Plus
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I just threw away my tp-link archer tx20u plus adapter and i want to warn anyone thinking about buying one for themselves. This piece of garbage cost me nearly 40 euros and has brought me nothing but misery accompanied by the worst internet connection, lag spikes and general issues ive ever had with any appliance or accessory ever. At first it was just lag spikes and really bad wifi; then it quickly became really frequent to the point i could just not play any online multiplayer games cause i disconnect 5-6 times a match (up to a few minutes) which sucks for me and my teammates. Then the adapter started constantly dis and reconnecting itself which i could fix in my settings but still is stupid as all hell. after this it was just an everyday battle. every single day first my computer had to take up to 10 minutes to even recognise any networks just to be followed by one hour of working wifi and an entire day of the worst and most negligible fixes ive seen. Every damn day for a damn week ive been fixing my adapter and winning a single hour of wifi just to get a day of absolutely nothing but problem fixes after just to go full circle. Not only that but every time ITS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM; nothing i do is ever enough for this piece of garbage. I swear ive looked through every reddit thread and every forum tried every setting and fix and every new or updated driver and nothing works. maybe im just mad and had the absolute worst adapter ever but i swear on my life that i would rather die than buy another tp-link product. I dont know if the routers are as bad but tbh: with the lack of actual tech support ive seen on their side i bet they are.

Also yes i wrote this because im angry, you may judge.

Hello @I-HATE-TP-LINC ,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We sincerely understand how frustrating it can be to deal with frequent disconnections, high latency, and slow network recognition, especially during gaming sessions.

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve stopped using the Archer TX20U Plus adapter. However, if you’re willing to give it one more try, we would really appreciate the opportunity to help you perform some targeted troubleshooting.

To assist you most effectively, could you please help us confirm a few key details?

  1. Current Driver Version: This is crucial. Please ensure you have the latest official driver installed.  Archer TX20U Plus_V1_5001.19.128.1_Win10_Win11
  2. Does the problem persist after the update? Try Beta Driver: Archer TX20U Plus Beta Driver
  3. Help Us Investigate Further (Very Important): If the driver updates above don’t help, to allow our technical engineers to perform a root cause analysis and prioritize your case, please provide the following information:
  • Network Setup: Briefly describe your network topology (e.g., Modem/Router Model → Any switches → Computer). Approximate distance and number of walls between your computer and router.
  • Cross-Testing: Would it be possible to test the Archer TX20U Plus adapter on another computer? Alternatively, could you try a different USB port on the same PC (especially a USB 3.0 port)?
  • Detailed PC Specifications: Please provide your detailed OS version (e.g., Win11 23H2), motherboard model, and CPU.

We fully understand the time and effort you've invested. If you choose to continue, we will immediately forward your issue to our senior engineers for dedicated follow-up. Alternatively, have you tried contacting local support? If you have the relevant case ID, please provide it so we can expedite your case's progress.

Whether or not you decide to proceed with further troubleshooting, we truly value you choosing a TP-Link product. Your feedback is essential in helping us improve. We look forward to your response.
