Hello @allan_t ,
Welcome to our community.
It is likely related to the USB drive's file system format or how the router detects and accesses the storage. Here are some steps to help resolve this:
1. Check and Format Your SSD to the Right File System:
TP-Link routers support specific partition formats. While some models support NTFS/FAT32, others support exFAT/HFS+/NTFS/FAT32. It's recommended to use NTFS as it offers better compatibility and performance, especially for larger storage capacities and file sizes. FAT32 has limitations with large volumes and individual file sizes over 4GB, which might explain why you're having problem with larger amounts of data.
2. Enable USB Storage Device:
Log in to your router's web management interface and go to Advanced > USB > USB storage device. Make sure to enable the drive that you want to share to the network.
3. Access the USB Sharing:
After enabling, you should be able to access the USB sharing folders over the network. If you're still having trouble, try accessing the drive directly via its network path (using the router's IP address).
4. Additional Troubleshooting:
• If the USB drive isn't being detected properly, try reformatting it to NTFS
• Ensure your client device's network profile is set to "Private" rather than "Public" (for Windows users)
• Try accessing the share directly via IP address rather than through network discovery
