Archer VX1800v - Not Working with Sky Full Fibre
Hello TP Link support.
A few months ago I joined SKY broadband, using the phone line with the SKY router - Fine. It's WiFi was poor so I bought a new TP-Lin Archer VW1800. Set it up and put in the usual login details SkyMerVDSL etc and it worked perfectly. No problems at all, thanks for a great router.
A couple of weeks ago, SKY contacted me and offered FULL FIBRE upgrade which I accepted. Last week the engineer installed the Fibre to their BT box inside and connected the SKY router to test it. Fine, works OK and good speeds.
So I asked him, can I now swap to my trust new TP-Link Router? He was not sure. I swapped them over, connecting the BT box to the WAN port on the Archer and waited.... No good. It would not connect to SKY.
I trawled the net and even asked Gemini, all the answers were the traditional settings for ADSL connection. I called and got through to SKY support and was told they do not support TP Link routers and could not help or advise.
So, here I am. Is it possible to use this nearly ne Archer VX1800v to Sky's Full Fibre (FTTP) broadband connection? If yes, please tell me how to do it. I'm currently using the Archer as a WiFi access point with the Sky router acting as connection and DHCP server.
Any advice warmly welcomed. If my issue has already been answered, please point me to where it is, I can't find anything relating to FULL FIBRE connectivity.
I suspect that as more phone lines are "upgraded to fibre" folk with non-sky routers users are going to be asking the same question.
