Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Archer AX53(BR)_V1_1.4.4 Build 20250603

My internet stops working every few minutes and starts working after a few seconds.

daily I keep getting Internet drop outs. I'm in Brazil and with ISP(REDELOCAL) in PPPoe. When the issues occur, my ONU has 3 green lights, so its ok. Its just my AX53 router, the online light goes to Orange. Happens for about 30 seconds, then comes good. Logs are like below each time. I've had the ISP tech come out and check and say all fine. I've replaced the cable between router and ONU to CAT6.

Network Configuration:
• ISP: REDELOCAL(regional network)
• Connection Type: PPPoE
• Location: Brazil

Troubleshooting Steps Already Completed:
• Updated firmware to latest version available
• Configured MTU to 1480 (as per ISP requirement)
• Disabled IPv6 completely
• Changed DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8
• Replaced ethernet cables with new Cat 6 cables
• Factory reset and reconfigured from scratch

- Plugged one old router (Tplink archer c21) in pppoe for more than 24 hours and there was no wan disconnection.

Evidence:
System logs show repeated PPPoE session terminations with the router sending “LCP TermReq” messages and immediately attempting to reconnect. The logs indicate the router is actively disconnecting the PPPoE session rather than losing connection due to external factors.

Hello @MauriciusOliver ,

Welcome to our community.

This appears to be a configuration anomaly. Please set the "Detect Online Interval" value to 0, then save.

  @Joseph-TP

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion.

I tested setting "Detect Online Interval" to 0 as recommended, but unfortunately the issue still persists.

The behavior is the following:

  • Occasional single packet loss occurs (for example, one "Request timed out" when pinging 8.8.8.8)

  • Immediately after these minor events, the router still drops the PPPoE session and reconnects

  • This leads to periodic disconnections

Important observation:
Using another router (Archer C21) under the exact same conditions, these packet losses do NOT cause PPPoE disconnections, and the connection remains stable.

This confirms that the issue is not the ISP connection itself, but how the AX53 handles PPPoE stability under minor packet loss or jitter.

Additional tests already performed:

  • Detect Online Interval = 0 (no improvement)

  • MTU adjusted (1480 / 1492)

  • Firmware downgrade and upgrade with factory reset

  • Ethernet cable replaced (improved frequency but not resolved)

The AX53 still drops PPPoE sessions too aggressively even with detection disabled.

At this point, the device is not handling normal network conditions as expected.

Thank you.
