Firmware Version: 1.3.3

Why can't I manage and configure my device through ssh?

I want to customize my hardware more professionally and finely! But the company Tp-link won't let me do it!

Hello @ppredator83 ,

Welcome to our community.

To help customers manage and configure TP-Link devices better, some TP-Link apps are published for mobile devices, such as Tether App, Deco App, Tapo App, etc., which require the TP-Link device to support SSH.

SSH (Security Shell) uses encryption to secure the connection between a client and a server. The TP-Link apps adopt SSH service, so the products that can use the app also support SSH correspondingly. TCP port 22 as the default port of SSH Service is set to be opened for this purpose.

However, SSH Services on TP-Link products are only available for TP-Link apps. Other SSH clients cannot access TP-Link products or adjust their settings with command lines. This is a design decision to maintain device security and stability.

For managing your router's settings, you can use:
• The web management interface (http://tplinkwifi.net)
• The Tether app for mobile devices

These interfaces provide comprehensive configuration options for your TP-Link router. While direct SSH command-line access isn't available, the web interface and Tether app offer extensive customization capabilities for wireless settings, network management, and other advanced features.
